Need Help with Stylus ID.

Hi,

I picked up a JCPenny MCS 6500 TT and would like to replace the stylus. The ones that are listed for that model are way different at LPGear.

Cartridge has no writing on it.

It´s an Audio Technica. Don´t know about model number.

Hakaplan can certainly ID the cartridge. If he doesn´t chime in, try shooting him a PM.

If you go to stereoneedles.com you will see that any of the interchangeabilty/upgrade: A group will fit that cartridge.

I'm sure Howard would approve of my answer :^)

Remove it from the headshell, the model number may be on top of the cartridge. As Doug G. said , there's probably a group of styli of various types/quality that will fit it.

Me too - pretty much so, 'cause this is indeed an AT10 family model, although the needle doesn't really look original (if it was, it would be an ATS11 (conical, 2 g)). And one might add that Stereoneedles' group B needles would fit just as well. Highest quality needles for the AT10 to AT12 models (plus numerous renamed versions) are the nude elliptical ATN12XE as well as the ATS12S and the ATN12S (both Shibatas with tapered alu cantilevers - but the ATS12S sometimes comes nude, whereas I've so far only seen bonded ATN12S versions...).

Ya, speaking of mouths, I was pretty sure the "group B" styli would all fit too but I didn't want to open up my big one and declare it until you guys confirmed it.

Maybe stereoneedles should modify their page to reflect this. :scratch2:

I did that already, no ID at all. No numbers.
