Need some help

Ok we just moved and I re set up my audio system.

the only change I made was going from some Sonus Faber Cremonas to a set of B&W 804 D-3 speakers.

I fired it up and it sounds really bad, no umph or clarity

other components are

pair of MC-60 amps
Conrad Johnson act 2
Mark Levinson phono stage No 25
Mark Levinson power PLS 226
Triangle Art meiestro tt

I was thinking either the phono needs adjusted or the ohms switched from 4 to 8?

thx

polarity correct on speaker?
What does it do minus phono?
Are the speakers 8 ohm? if so, needs to be done anyways for amp preservation.
What is you put the Sonus back in the mix?

sounds like it may be a combination of room placement, new acoustics, and you just might not like the sound of the new speakers. Just because many people like speaker doesn't mean they will be everyone's cuppa tea,

I don’t think so……the speakers just sound totally dead……..barely any volume etc etc.

no, it's not the speaker cables. Don't believe everything you read on the net.

perhaps you made an error resetting up your turntable? That's why you NEED to try another source.

I would say it is the speakers as the one's you have now are not very efficient compared to the Sonus speakers. And yeah, try another source like a cd player, tuner, tape, etc.

I’d check another source like others have said to rule out its not your amps etc . Now if you find that after you try another source that everything is good then you need to check your phono stage, make sure it’s setup correctly, make sure the leads from your tonearm to cart are setup properly.

ok so try a CD player or something?

So I decided to trade in my current system for a newer more user friendly system.

Went with:

wilson Sabrina x speakers
Rega 6 turntable
McIntosh c22 amp
I kept my mc60 monos

traded in
my triangle art miestro
Conrad Johnson act 2
Bowers and Wilkins 804 D3’s
Mark Levinson power and phono

I finally got the old system working but ended up going for a change of pace…..
