Need some help

So I decided to trade in my current system for a newer more user friendly system.

Went with:

wilson Sabrina x speakers
Rega 6 turntable
McIntosh c22 amp
I kept my mc60 monos

traded in
my triangle art miestro
Conrad Johnson act 2
Bowers and Wilkins 804 D3’s
Mark Levinson power and phono

I finally got the old system working but ended up going for a change of pace…..
Looks like you got a bit of breaking in to do now especially with the Sabrina’s . Congrats hope you like your new setup:thumbsup:

Yep, he just changed "polarity", on a $19K pair of speakers. Wish I had such problems! LOL
God bless, and carry on!

What is always a good thing to have, is a local audio buddy-friend. Then you won't perhaps have to come here and get abused in all these dopey lame forums by "authorities" who probably don't know jack.

Yeah I read the Conrad Johnson manual and it said to reverse polarity on the speakers……I did that and problem solved.

Yes polarity is correct
Haven’t tried without phono…
Speakers are 8 ohm I believe
Sonus are sold…..

I'd like to see where Conrad Johnson says connect the speakers in reverse polarity..

Yeah, I just saw that. He could have been mistaken or the speakers were wired wrong inside by someone else previously. Dunno.

It was suggested he check this in post 2. This is post 3

If they were wired incorrectly, I'd let the manufacturer know about it, or at least the next owner.

I think that the general theme here is to practice “process of elimination”.

That is the surest way of discovering the “possible” causes of a problem.

Example: I was with a guy today testing out a turntable. He plugged it in to an outlet that he thought was working. No dice.

I then recommended that he plug it into another outlet. Still no dice (or so it would seem). I removed the platter and discovered that the belt had slipped off of the platter.

Tried it again but still no dice. For S,s & G’s, I selected the 45RPM button and low and behold, it started working. Turns out that the indicator bulb for the 33RPM speed was not working so, when I finally pressed it after the 45RPM worked, it worked just fine.

I guess the moral of his story/thread is that we can all do simple basic hinges to try and discover where the problem lies, whether it be changing outlets or changing sources.

It's pretty common knowledge that Conrad Johnson components invert phase. Here is an excerpt from the review of the CA200 amplifier.

The CA200 inverts absolute phase, so care must be taken to reverse the speaker connections to compensate.

This is an aspect of installation that CJ owners need to pay attention to.

This is the kind of tribal knowledge that is available on AK.

Good for us!
