Hopefully the news of closing isn’t due to his passing. Also hopefully word gets out before it turns into a mess of people placing orders and having to file cases with their credit cards. That stinks...

Yeah, hate to think of the orders they have to fulfill. Hope that no customer will get left out in the dark with their hard earned money. Needle Doctor has a very good reputation. Ordered a few things from them through the years and always had excellent service!

I just tried to call ND. After about 8 rings, the call went to voicemail where the message was that the mailbox was full. So it looks like they are indeed closed but, as mentioned, the website is still live.

If the owner passed or is otherwise incapacitated it could be that everyone just walked away and it’ll be a dead web site that lingers on.

Any looking for a retirement business? Seems to me it was sort of a low budget operation without a lot of on-hand inventory, so put in an offer on existing stock and the "secret notebook" on sources ...

I certainly hope that all is well and this is just a temporary hick up. They need to communicate what is going on. If people are informed, most are quite understanding. I had sudden health issues 2 years ago and my wife was into my emails responding to all. Every single one of my customers were great and were more concerned that I fully regained my health (I did!). Needle Dr. always had what I needed at a fair price and I always had it the next day - without exception. They also sent a bunch of work my way. Best wishes to all involved.

Indeed sad to hear a source may be gone not to mention what may or may not have happened to the principal but I frankly never bought anything from the site. Pricing always seemed higher there than many other sources.

I purchased from Needle Doctor from time to time. For what I was buying, prices were competitive. Service was always good and delivery quick. Always thought they were larger than a one person operation. Would like to know what the real story is.

Yeah, there was a notice posted that said he was closing down after many years, thanking his customers, etc. Wasn't sure if it was an email I received or a notice on stevehoffman forums. Probably the latter since many of you would have received an email as well if it was sent.

That is too bad if true. Jerry had a large inventory and was always great to deal with.
It does seem like it has been a while sense I got a sale email from them. I too was sure he had 2 or 3 employees.

Saw this on the Polk Forum

"After 40 years, The Needle Doctor is closing its doors, effective immediately. We are incredibly grateful for the support you've shown us, both locally in the Twin Cities and globally. What started as a tiny little shop on the University of Minnesota campus grew into a world-wide analog haven. The staff was never larger than 10 or so people, which should say all that needs to be said about the work ethic of those that wore the hat. Customer service was always the centerpiece; whether it was helping music lovers solve problems, helping seasoned vets take the next step with their system, or helping grandparents find a flip-over needle for their console stereo. Every day was an adventure. We hope that our love for analog and our friendly service set us apart from the rest. With that, one last thank you to everyone who's been a part of this journey. It's been a pleasure. The Needle Doctor is dead. Long live The Needle Doctor."
