New 6L6 amp project

Hey Keg, the shipment has not gone out yet so I will ping him. There are a couple other sellers from that region. I went with him because he has a 100% satisfaction rating with over 7000 transactions. A lot of the comments where from the U.S.
 
I just got back from HD and brought home a length of 1/2 schedual 80 PVC pipe....it should really set the base off.
 
OK, here is what I got done yesterday. I will finish it off this week sometime. Once this block is all cured up, I will slice it into three 1" x 4" x 20" long boards that will be the front and sides to the amp base. For the back I am just maple.

This is the mold to build this up in. I will use tinted epoxy in between layers.

This is the bottom piece of Paduk and everything will build on it.

Here is a pic of the cutoffs of the square pieces. They are acrylic pen blanks for making custom pens. This is how the ends will look once they are all polished up.

OK Dennis,

You got me lost, I can't at all see what it is your doing with this wood/base. :scratch2:

I thought you were using the impedance bridge and putting some wood on the sides?
(Not saying it won't be cool, but I can't tell what is going on) :)
 
Hey Keg, I will glue up all these peices in the box mold with different color epoxy. When I pull it out, it will be one chunk 20L x 4H x 4W. I will then slice that into 4 boards that will be 20L x 4H x1W. Those I will use for the base box. Then I will use the Imp bridge plate on top. The Imp bridge will only cover half the top so I will use another plate for the other half and that is where the Trannys go.

No worries, man - I'd forgotten, too. Now, about this epoxy slurry you're fixin' to mix up... How do you slice that loaf? With a bandsaw?

You artist types always make my brain work in new ways. I'm looking forward to seeing how you do this! :thmbsp:

Will a mesh covering be necessary for such tubes?
 
Red, yes I will use a band saw. If I used a table saw, the speed of the blade would create too much friction and melt the epoxy and burn the wood. There is a Millworks near me that can put it on their CNC controled band saw and cut it perfect.

Reg, do you mean a gage of some sort? Where this amp will be sittting, no one can get to it, so there should be no issues of someone pulling the plate cap.....I hope.
 
I caught on to your left brain work, a few days back, seeing the different woods. Liked it then really dig the pipe, nice. Any other suprizes in the chilli pot?
 
Yep Golana, before I epoxy it all up I will take a router with a varity of bits to the wood to add to the design.

Yep Reg, that is what I said gage. No I will not need one.....at this point. If I need one in the future, I'll weld something fancy up.

What did you ever find out about longevity and tonality[sound] of these 807?
The best I've found is the 6L's and 6V's were built after, as abetter alternative.
Possibly a safeness factor and wha-not. but I'm curious how they'll add up to the
rest of the pack.
