New 6L6 amp project

I am trying to contact a guy, locally, that has an amp built with the 807s. I have heard good things about them but have not heard them myself. Even though I am only using four of them, I ordered 6 just incase they are not long lived......but you know the Russians...hell the MIG 29 is built of steel not aluminium.

That might be the other point I read, if you ever go to roll, look for RCA's I think.

Hey Bluesman, I am using the schematic that Kegger developed. You can find it at the bottom of post #15 of this thread. That is not an amp. I is an Impedence Bridge. I am taking all the knobs off and enlarging the holes and using it for my top plate. The only knob I will keep is the big one and that will be my volume pot. Cheers.
 
Sat down with Kegger last night to figure out what is what on the Conn transformer. It has a pair of 350v HV leads and a pair of 300v HV leads, both with the same center tap. two pairs of of 5v leads, a pair of 12v leads with center tap, and ofcourse the 110s. Should make for a beefy power supply. Cheers.

That's a whole lotta voltage coming out of one chunk of iron! Doesn't surprise me, though. It was heavy!
 
Yep, after the initial shockwave. Hey I just picked up a Dual 1229Q turn table from a friend of mine. What do you think of that unit?
 
If you decide that you don't have quite the right power transformer, I can offer some other options, including some reallly beefy ones.

With my experience with Dual 1229s :grumpy: :cry: :rant: ... perhaps the C4 would be the proper thing to use... :D

Thanks for the offer T. I think we will make this one work well. We will use the 2 5v as left and right B+. So we will do a CLCLC for each side. Kegger is thinking through how to split the 12v into 6v for the heaters. With that, we will do a left and right heaters as well.

Gordon, what did you find objectionable with the 1229Q. I can have it rebuilt for $135.00 or order the service manual for $9.00 and do it myself. Apparently there are many places on that TT where the lub turns into glue and that is the case with mine. Cheers.
