New Owner to Yamaha GT-2000 TT

as would be expected

again, something is amiss with the cartridge mount, way too far forward it appears
Yah, I'm aware, I've been trouble shooting this issue and what you are seeing is my last effort in trying to address this tonearm movement. I haven't been able to dial out this movement so I didn't really care about cart alignment.

I get that, shouldn't have anything to do with that anyway. Not familiar enough with that table/arm to be of much help other than the usual suspects I already mentioned, leveling or tonearm wire tension.

Don't give up, this is an endgame table if sorted.

I checked the wires too as you mentioned earlier and it didn't seem to be taught or tangled. It also doesn't feel torqued in anyways.

Btw, appreciate the pointers and help!

I just took apart the tonearm pivots bearings, cleaned the inside of the tonearm tube! Spider nest! Lubed, reassembled, torqued Linn tight, aligned the cart to 14mm overhang and adjusted the vta and vtf.

So far so good? I even eyeballed the tracking force.

I'd attempt to align the cartridge.
Good call on the alignment. It forced me to redo everything and recheck it all from bolt up. I think it has been addressed.

I'm still hearing some distortion. I can see why people "lose" the Yamaha headshell. You can't really it it aligned properly the generic protractors.

Is Baerwald an appropriate alignment?

Try a little more (.5 gram) tracking weight just to see whether it makes any difference.

I hope your not relying on that little bubble level built into the tonearm. It’ll get ya close but I’ve found even a small torpedo level will do a better job!

Good luck! Mark

The nut I cracked I did.

Success.

The pace, the bass, the details, the midrange, and the rhythm is better than the Rega P6 I came from. The Rega is a more laid back sound. Though it's extremely hard to A/B turntables with different carts installed, but there are differences you hear that are more distinct to a certain turntable. I can't wait for my new Hana SL MC coming in. I think I've spent 24 hours working on this turntable to sound it's best.
