Does anything sound better than those 15 watts?

but yeah I doubt it!
separates didn't sound as good. the modern SET I had edged it out in soundstage but of course could not put out nearly as much punch bass...
What's your method of hooking up to the sub?
Triple Deuce #2 for me. It came out of the original owner's "studio" in Des Moines, Iowa and now resides in Idaho. It's a little dusty but it looks to be a clean example otherwise and the blue film is still protecting the bezel. I'll crack it open and give it a test drive this weekend.
Man that's a lusty little machine. Makes me want to pick up some horn speakers and bask in that midrange richness!
222 #1, which I acquired from our resident expert @bhairavi, is in the bedroom where it sees light duty as I really don't listen in there. It sounds very nice on the little Mordaunt-Short MS-25s. I'm going to give this one a spin on the big DP-105s and we shall see what those Klipsch horns (and ADS L810s) sound like . . .
I agree wholeheartedly with both propositions. I'll add that I have a recently acquired pair of JBL L96 in the living room and I've been hard-pressed to leave the room since hooking them up.
I don't have any specs on those big DP-105s. I assume they're pretty efficient given their provenance. None of my Sansui have had any trouble driving them. I'm excited to hear how the little 18W VTD handles them.

Surprisingly, smoke free! Smells like vintage dust.
If it’s not humming, hissing or buzzing run it as she is! Especially if you have another that’s been updated. I had an all original AU-101 that I found much guilty pleasure in listening too. There may be cozy SQ from yesteryear lurking under that layer of household dust.
Yes, for sure. I'm happy to leave them be if there's nothing obvious going on. The other one is generally original, too. Very clean. @bhairavi only adjusted it and added banana jacks to the back before he offered it to me. It sounds great and I'm unlikely to touch it. Soundcheck on #2 forthcoming shortly. I got sidetracked with the 11000 today.
No such luck finding that cozy SQ. Initial soundcheck revealed some faint popping and crackling, no music. Following a basic control cleaning, soundcheck 2 yielded only very faint audio with the popping and crackling. Power supply voltage is good and it's good at the input of the F-10831 control amp tone board. Thereafter, we start losing significant voltage on the board. Bias readings at the emitter resistors are something like ~12.5mV and ~130mV. Center voltage at the outputs seems good, ~50V and ~25V across the pairs. It appears the power supply and the output stage are good but the in between needs work.
Full resto-mod incoming. I've re-read this entire thread and been chatting with OP, and will re-read @Scott Muni's 222 thread. They'll be my guides. When I get organized and underway, I'll start my own.
