Next restoration: Yamaha PC2602M

I almost bought that bad boy, but I flinched (just assuming I know what exact listing you're talking about, but could be wrong). congrats either way!
Only the SHADOW KNOWS  ...Would you happen to know an updated parts replacement list by chance~I need all the help I can get :naughty: ha cuz looks like parts are getting scarce.......
Trying to decide if a Emotiva XPA2-GEN2 is better choice

No one wants to help me with a more current or larger parts list for these amazing amps.......
Very surprised the Service Manual is not in the data base, or I did a search & could not find there...........

This was my bom

THANK~YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH, YOUR AMAZING THREAD HERE & THE EXTRAORDINARY BLOG IS A HUGE REASON AS WHY I HAD TO ACQUIRE A 2602M
MY MAIN CONCERN IS REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABILITY. NEED to go 4 now~ hopefully I can do a restoration 1/2 as good as yours~ You do amazing work & I truly admire your attention to detail~ I am the same way detail wise~Thank-You again, very much :jump::bowdown:

I have most of the info you provided. I thought you may have replaced more than was in the pdf, OR someone had a more recent list. I see that some of the parts on the list are not available now, the more reason for my concern! I want to acquire the main caps before they become obsolete. What caps are the BEST replacements??? I want my amp to last another 50+ years so I want to acquire plenty parts for future needs before they become obsolete. Makes me happy so few parts were needed~~~~~~~

Thank you. These capacitors should serve as replacements:

UCC E36D101LPN223TDB7U
TDK B41456B9229M
VISHAY MAL210119223E3

Ok, thank-you so much amr2. I plan to buy these & the transistors in your previous list. Would you suggest any other parts you feel that are prone to failure in these amps & more importantly ANY parts that you think are in danger of becoming obsolete?
I feel this amp deserves to live on as long as I can help it to. I greatly appreciate the fact they have lived this this long due to great design & robust parts & construction & the clincher is the METERS!!! I LUV THE METERS !!!!!!
Oh, to replace this amp would cost I believe a $1000.00 minimum, & they would be without cool meters.......

P.S. amr2~ If you do not have the time to look up parts numbers, just tell me the specific type of part & I can try to research to find them. I do appreciate your help~

I found this : If you're going to try film, mkp is a step above mkt sonically. I only use mkt is mkp is unavailable as it always sounds better when the effect is audible within the circuit. +1 on the idea of swapping carbon film to metal film resistors. It will also help acheive your preferred sound signature that you're after. It will also make the sound more "modern", cooler and -likely- leaner as well. You can also try introducing silver in some way, either through something like silver mica capacitors or silver plated cables, etc; or perhaps even mundorf silver/oil mkp caps which are quite large, expensive and only come in small uF sizes that are generally used in speaker crossovers or tube equipment. These are a few ideas that will help you achieve that particular sound signature as I use them all the time for this very purpose. Also, look at your speaker cables. Increasing the purity of your conductors (at least ofc [copper], or better yet occ) as well as choose cables with insulators that are better than pvc or acrylic; like fep, pp, pe, teflon/ptfe, air, cotton, etc. This also helps clear up the signal and enhance musical separation. The interesting thing I've found out about all of this, is that your current system might sound perfect to your ears, but when you do a speaker cable comparison (for instance) where you keep one channel stock with stranded copper in pvc and the other using occ copper sheathed in ptfe, you will instantly notice the difference between the two channels and hear how much better you can make your system sound without realizing it was actually muffled or muddled sounding before.

Is a microphone cable the wrong cable to use coming out of a +4dbv XLR 3-32 balanced output to a balanced PC2602m input ?
Can 3 conductor bare wire 12ga carry a balanced signal to another bare wire connector? I was thing maybe you can use a ground screw for the 3rd wire. I am an obvious novice, & the thought of having all balanced signal except to the speakers is bothering me. I am starting to maybe realize from info here that balanced to speakers is not necessary. ha

DO ANY OF THESE REQUIRE ANY MODIFICATIONS ? I THINK 1 IS $34.00 & 1 IS $84.00 Which do you suggest ? Price is not too much of a worry as long as the quality is there!

No, it doesn’t require any modifications. I don’t have the original capacitors on hand right now, but when you remove yours, you can check the dimensions before ordering anything. Either option is fine — I’ve used TDK and UCC for the P2200 and PC2002 with good results.

I just found this thread because my PC1602 has started to cause distortion and one channel is losing signal. I can't find a specific one for a PC1602 but seems like my amp is similar to the PC 2602. Let's see how I do.

Start a new thread , You'll get more looks that way I am sure.

And good luck.

Sorry I am continuing on this old thread. I just want to ask directly this:

Hi, were you able to make this change with film capacitors or mkp?
