nice tt at estate sale - any idea on what it is??

This is really a broadcast type turntable made in Japan by some good firm. The Tonearm mounted is a Grace oil damped Gray clone tonearm. Mr. Okie Sugano of Koetsu moving coil fame loved these superb tonearms. Much better than ceramic cartridge quality. Some radio stations which had to watch their pennies used this gear on air and had good success with it. The Grace arm is as good as any Gray viscous damped tonearm in every aspect.

So I WAS right about the tonearm. The pictures I saw of decks with this type of arm on were from the early days of BBC Radio 1.:thmbsp:

It's still an interesting bit of kit, though!

Then I was right, too, calling it a Grace tonearm!

Nice to know I've picked up SOMETHING from several years of hanging around AK! :D

Oh, Sorry! I misunderstood. Well, I would grab it with both hands anyway as it would be something to keep, use and to treasure, too.

Saw this posted for an upcoming estate sale... any idea of what it is? any thoughts if it's worth checkin' out?

Many of us would dearly love to know the outcome of this thread jfly28. Although I feel a little envious of your opportunity, it's always relieved when a fellow AKer posts their new aquisition with photos. Please share if you can

Not sure who was OEM for Realistic that far back, but they've had Elac idlers, which are well regarded. It's almost certanly an idler drive, which can mean lots of potential.
