Nikko NT-990, what do uou think ?

Hello

I have an offer from friend : Nikko NT-990 Tuner
anybody use this tuner, what's the quality of signal reception and functionality ?

The nikko tuners run the gammut from amazing (gamma 1) to forgettable.

Iirc the silver line wasn't quite as good as the rack mounts. I'd not pay much unseen, but I'm a fan of the nikko sound so I'd say see if you can test it out.

If it pulls in the station you want, and it sounds good to you, then enjoy. The nikkos do allow you to tune pretty finely (no opinion on how well), 0.5 vs the usual 2.

Personally I won't pay more than $10 for an unknown, even working tuner. There's just no demand. The good tuners are well known and you'll pay well for them.

condition have not tested yer, but it is use 110V AC input, not sure it is working or not, today I'll test

I always look at the schematics and specs they say a lot
No service manual only specs
Signal to Noise Ratio: 68dB (FM)
Distortion: 0.2% (FM)
= mediocre performance, but still might be fine for your needs.

It is features in the 1980 US catalogue, as said above top tuner performers in that year were Gamma 20 & 40 tuners. For the little extra $ probably better to go with higher end if you can afford it.
