No headphone forum?

OK, I submit :ntwrthy:

Impractical not having earbuds in.

I suppose there will always be someone who has just bought a new Hoki-Koki 2000 mp3 player, wanting to discuss the merits of this or that earbud earphone - which is 'audio' and relevant on this site, even if I might think it is lo-fi.

Excuse me while I go and sit in a bucket of cold water :D

Over and out :smoke:

Think of it this way, if somebody comes to AudioKarma looking to discuss cheapomatic earbuds, we (this community) have been presented with an opportunity to steer another person towards hi-fi, even if that just means a pair of decent headphones hooked up to a portable digital media player, that's how I started, and now I almost have to tie myself down to keep from buying more gear that I cannot afford right now. Sorry that was a run-on. The end result is another pair of quality headphones bought, which means more revenue for the manufacturer, which (hopefully) means better quality products at lower prices in the long run. Yay for a free-market!

A note on this post, please don't turn this thread into an economics discussion, I was trying to be silly.

I vote for a headphone forum. My first stereo was a SX-1250 with a pair of HD-414 headphones, no speakers. I couldn't afford speakers back then, at least the ones I wanted. I still have a SX-1250 and would love to have a pair of HD-414's again.

I'd love to see a Headphone forum too. I'm needing to buy a set and I tend to lean towards vintage...and prefer the closed can types with no foam pads that rot out every couple of years. There sure is some junk out there too!

I'd love a headphones forum here, for both vintage and new stuff, as well as all the other equipment that goes with it — the DACs, headphone amps, etc ... My AKG-702s are a big part of my listening experience, and it would be great to share info and learn from others on this topic in the Karma environment.

count me in to grumpy.it would make it easier to get opinions on different headphones etc with a regular forum instead of just trying to type in a model number and see what comes up. (even with the work that been done to the search feature it would be easier to just have a forum:) )so count me in :thmbsp:

I've already voted yes, but I'll just say that I've learned so much from AK, but one thing I haven't learned about and desperately need to is headphones. I've been to Head-Fi numerous times, but it's a different forum. I don't WANT to hang out there. I want to hang out here, and have headphones be part of that experience.

:yes:it's something that i'm intrested in and would visit often.I agree that we should not exclude the in ear buds, I use mine all of the time and they sound great, not as good as the old Novas i have but even at night when everyone else is a sleeep and i'm laying in bed the other half complains that she can hear the cans but she can,t hear the buds.:music:

But they are portable speakers. So that contradicts the fact headphones are speakers with casings, as both structures are.

I would hate to see the site get too fragmented with too many separate posting areas but….
Yea, I think I would really like to see a separate headphone section.
If it goes well we can keep it. If after the initial excitement wears off and it does not get much traffic (which I doubt) it can always be cancelled.

I work nights and come home well into O-Dark Thirty. Sometimes when I come home I need to unwind with some music of choice and feel the need to play it loud. Can’t do it with my regular setups so I turn on my Little Dot Mark IV LE tube based headphone amp hooked up to my AVG 701’s and disappear for awhile. It sure helps me.

I used to visit and recommend Head-Fi but for me their “Signal to Noise” ratio is so high now I have given up on them for the most part.
I think a Headphone section with the AK attitude would be good.
