While I despise the "look" of the Clown Burst (Les Paul) Customs that FZ sported in the 1980s, he sure played the he// out of them. :thmbsp:

Make a jazz noise here, Broadway the hard way & The best band you never heard of
are all live from Franks last tour. I am Glad I was able to see them live .
Some of the best live shows I have seen . I see Dweezil play every year he would make Frank proud .
 
Always on the perimeter. Started out seeing Mothers of Invention ads in the back of Superman comics with the Sea Monkeys and the Ninety-Eight Pound Weakling. Then a guy played a song called "King Kong" which I thought was really cool. Then I bought Burnt Weanie Sandwich which I thought was kinda off his game (no "King Kongs"). Then a family member gave my sister Overnight Sensation for Christmas.

I knew it was filthy but didn't know how to warn people so I started making jokes about it being a "stag" or "naughty" record. My parents got pissed at me for crapping on the gift. I went out so I wouldn't be around when they listened to it. When I got back my parents looked dazed and apologized to me. Beyond that Dancing Fool was cool and his daughter was awesome with Valley Girl.
 
I recently started making mixed cds of my college era tunes & had to throw "Camarillo Brillo" into the mix. Slightly more upbeat than "I'm The Slime"! Agree about Overnight Sensation being one of Frank's more accessible records for rookies along with Apostrophe & Live At The Fillmore East.

Cranked my favorite, "One Size Fits All" last night. Cool that Project/Object will be in my town, they haven't been around for a while.

Recently went to see "Zappa Plays Zappa" - they played the entire "One Size Fits All" record start to finish. I was totally blown away! I had always sort of written Dweezil off, but my god he and his band were AMAZING and nailed every nuance note for note. Its one of my favorite records too, and to hear it live was incredible. They played a bunch of other classics as well, my only regret was that this was the first time seeing them - apparently Dweezils been at it for the past 10 years!

Zappa plays Zappa is coming here in Oct.

I saw that, too. Great fun.
 
I just took my 16 year old son to see them when they passed through Hampton Beach, NH last month. I see Dweezil and the band every chance I get and they are flat out the most talented group of people you will probably ever see play together. That they are playing some of the most difficult music ever written just makes it that much more amazing.

I wish more young people were exposed to Frank's music. It's a graying (and slowly dying) crowd that needs some young blood. Dweezil picked up the torch on his end. Now it's up to us to spread the word and get our sons and daughters out there to see what good music really is.

Agreed but kids these day have no attention span, most if not all of them would be staring into their "smart phones" or texting the whole time.
 
I've been listening to the the studio version of RDZNL a lot lately and this might be blasphemous but I prefer it to any of the officially released live versions. George Dukes keyboards are outstanding and FZ's solo is kick ass!!

The 1988 tour is one of the best, right up there w/ 1978 and 1981. And 1974. And...
