Official Grateful Dead Thread

I finally got my new (to me) laptop scorching GD CDs.

I was using Nero 6 (2006!) on my XP box but Windoze 7 doesn't like it.
I did some homework and settled on CD BurnerXP.
It has all the functionality of Nero, burns directly from FLAC, has easier CD text and best of all it's free :tresbon:
FWIW the new puter's a dual core Dell w/3GB DDR3 RAM, a 15.6 widescreen, an ATI Radeon w/1GB & a 250GB HDD all in perfect condition for $225.

I burnt disc 1 of Fillmore East 4/29/71 and didn't realize it's audience until I played it.
It's playing now and it's ok but I'm focused on SB shows right now.

Having said that this show's from an excellent FM source (gd71-07-02.prefm.cribbs-veigh.33659.sbeok.flac16)
I just burnt Fillmore West 7/2/71 CD1 and it's going in pronto.

It looks to be a smokin show :music:

I dunno about the crossed drumsticks on the cover but they really rocked in 77

Yeah, and like much of 77, the recording is outstanding. Some of Betty Cantor-Jackson's finest work. The sound quality of this release is superb by any measure.

The eleven from 02/28/69 is absolutely solid! I've had these floating around on analog cassette for an eternity. cool to see them released.

In the car today, while driving around & cranking while I changed the oil:

Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, Holland (5/10/1972)

From Ramble On Joe @ thebestofwebsite.com in the
"Overview: 10 shows to represent the Godchaux era of the Grateful Dead" area

2. European tour April 7 - May 26, 1972.
Often regarded as their best tour.
Pigpen & the Godchauxs are all fully integrated, making for a fuller sound with two full-time keyboardists.

Common Favorites: it would be shorter to list the few shows that aren't favorites.
Inarguable favorites include: 4-14, 4-24 [ROCKIN' THE RHEIN], 4-26 [ HUNDRED YEAR HALL], 5-10, 5-11, 5-23,
5-26 [featured in EUROPE 72], and STEPPIN' OUT [compiled from British dates on this tour]

Wow - I didn't know there were any Heads here, usually read and sometimes post in the equipment forums... Going to see Furthur in April @ The Beacon. I only saw The GD twice-in '81. Went to check out Dark Star Orch a few years ago and they did one of those shows! There is a good Dead radio show on KDHX.org on Sat nights @ midnight Eastern. I have yet to check out the Europe '72 box set... Cool thread-thanks!
