Ohm Sound Cylinders - HELP!

I agree their "upgrades" are expensive, although I'll stop short of saying "over priced", as I haven't listened to their newer stuff, but their repairs & parts (except grills) are pretty reasonable. Nothing like what you'll pay to have Soundlab, or Magnepan repair their stuff.
I don't know about how fast Ohm's turn-a-round will be though. I think they're almost a one man operation at this point, a mere shadow of their former size. At least that means you really are dealing with the owner!

In all cases I have dealt with John. He was responsive when we were discussing the repair. However, he has not responded for days when asked recently if he's received the can.

Cans have been received and installed, listening to my sound cylinders right now. Sadly after shipping and all the BS I'm probably in $230 at this point. Need to also find a way to replace the crappy binding posts with 5 way binding posts that will be the next project. In any case they sound good so far, I would say that the highs are airy but not incredibly sharp/crisp. Detail level from Walsh is intermediate i.e. not incredibly detailed but I CAN hear the notes on my reference tracks that are gone on crappy speakers. Bass is good, better than you would think for being such a small driver but it's not digging low to where I can 'feel' it in my chest. For example, on Box of Rain off of American Beauty the first few notes I can feel a deep chest thump on my AR98's but on these that is missing. I wouldn't have expected that in any case out of these. Still spending time with them, only been listening for 30 minutes so I will have to provide a more lengthy assessment later.

Normally I don't pry about these matters. But I thought you spent $100 on the speakers and $45 on a repair from Ohm (plus shipping of course) How did the total get up to $230?

Feel free. It was the conventional escalation....30 and change to ship it there, 40 and change to ship it back to me, 45 for the repair. Another 10 for replacement binding posts that I have not installed yet. Shipping was vastly underestimated in this entire scenario.
Did you have to ship the entire speaker??? Man that seems super pricey for shipping if it was only the top portion from Indiana to NY and back.

I agree but I actually shipped it myself and it was way pricier than it should have been. I used UPS ground.

And just the can but I did insure it which added to the cost.

IME they sound best closer to the back wall than you'd normally expect. Ohm suggests 1-2ft, and that's about where I've had the best luck with bass integration too. Also, they like to be spaced a bit wider apart than most "conventional speakers".

I learned a lesson here then, I need to move to fedex. Wasted a lot of money there.
Frommerstop, I had them about 2' off the back wall, maybe I should move them back some. How about corners? I think I had them spaced maybe 8' - 10' feet part. I will have to give them more time that's for sure. I definitely have been enjoying them.
