Old type binding posts, which connector?

I second the idea to just get some crimp on spade connectors. You can get them at any hardware or automotive store, go have a look, there's so many kinds.

Or if you want the best in reliability get ring connectors, but then you have to totally remove the screws to install them.

Guess I would bite bullet and replace binding posts with universal 5 ways at a wider center distance. Those screws look too close together. Fair chance of cables shorting.

I did think of that but I am not quite skille with DIY and I do not want to broke something. These speakers are in really great condition atm!

I think I will go with right angle gold plated forks and pair them with my banana plugs. I will let you know how it goes. Thank you guys for your help!

If the screws can come all way out of binding plate. You could try star style lockwashers under screw head. Might help grip. I've had those right angle adapters come loose. Wrap a little electrical tape where they are closest together. Outside of that they do the job.

For all the trouble you're forcing yourself to go through you could easily replace the old fashioned screw terminals on the speakers with some inexpensive modern five way binding post and be done with it. If you can manage to make peanut butter toast correctly then you can figure out how to swap out binding posts as well.

Pomona makes some banana adapters that thread into the terminal. They have 6-32, 8-32 and 10-32. Different colors as well.

Eh.... it was on the previous page. So no reason you would have unless you were reading the entire thread. Like you I think screwing in a binding post makes for the best solution.

Crimp on ends for the speaker wires will work, but there's always the danger of a screw coming slightly loose, and one of the connectors rotating slightly and shorting out the whole mess. Plus the screw on setup is just a giant PIA in my opinion.
