Opinions on Klipsch Kg4 Speakers

Register to hide this ad
That's about the average going price for a nice pair. Do a search here on AK for opinions as it's a well talked-about speaker.

That's what I paid for mine last year, they were mint as mint can be for a played speaker. I love my Kg4's....I'm sure you can talk him down some, just check for the rubber surrounds coming up if you look at them, I've seen that on a few occasions here on AK. A trick someone told me also.....if you are able to listen before you buy them, take a paper towel core with you, and as they are playing take a listen to the horn tweeters through the paper towel core and make sure they both sound clear. Of course it always comes down to listener preference, I've heard every type of music through them, and it all sounds good to me. Just my opinion.

Not a bad price at all if the description is honest. Sad that so many here think you should always be able to steal this stuff at a tenth of it's worth or less.

I have a beautiful looking and sounding pair I use with my Marantz 2250 system. Paid just a bit more than the price for this pair, no regrets at all. I don't mind spending good money on good gear. YMMV

If you find a pair and the tweeters are toasted that would lend a better/reduced price. You can get new diaphragms for $15!

Ain't that the truth.

Price is fair, if in working condition. These respond well to cap and tweeter diaphragm upgrades. Tube friendly, too.

I bought a pair off the local CL here a couple of weeks ago. I didn't pay quite that much but I just happened to be the first caller. They were underpriced. They are fine speakers. Turns out that mine had a bit of a problem. One of the Mid/Woofers has a bit of a voice coil rub. I was lucky and found a replacement on Ebay($25 including shipping). I should be back and running in a couple of days.
$200 is a fair price if everything works correctly. If you don't like them, you will be able to get all of your money back.

Although I obtained my most recent pair for $75 -- in oak veneer -- $200 is a decent price in my region.

I really like mine alot. My wife recently commented that with the Kg4a it sounded like Miles Davis was playing in my listening room. Scary thought! :yikes:

Seriously -- when properly positioned in a room they are a very worthwhile speaker.

Paid the same for my perfect pair....just wish they were in walnut, but don't think that I'm complaining. These oak cabinets are flawless and I love them.

$200-250 is the current "non-garage-sale" price. More if especially nice.

Btw, although the ad says walnut, the pics look more like oak to me. Color just may be a tad off in the photo, though, or they may just be seriously in need of some tlc.

These speakers are approaching 20 yrs old. I paid $75 for mine and resold them for the same. Having lived with them for the better part of 10 years I still think $200 is on the high side. I do agree with them being tube friendly though.

Never heard them, but that's a decent price in my neck of the woods.

You got to think, that if you picked them up even at a steal on a auction site, the shipping costs would quickly add up.

I have a near mint pair, and have a very high opinion of them. Used with good components, they border on outstanding bang for buck speakers. I use mine with tubes.

$160 off Craigslist.....a steal IMO

Supply and Demand.Of course if you can pay less do it but you can only buy what is for sale at the moment you are buying.
Mine were advertised as one side weak.
I took them home and got them apart.
One white wire had come loose.
Hooked it up and never looked back.
I'll say this though they seem on the "bright" side.
My acoustics here are poor and that is part of the problem but they don't move bass to well. They will fill a room though.Very efficient speaker, easy on the old amps by not creating too much heat.I rarely get the volume control know past 9 o'clock.
