Yeah I figured this much glad I didn’t PAY anything for this one but It’s lame that they would even design such an low quality sub . When I had it hooked up in my bedroom onkyo nearly destroyed it haha . That was hooked to front or surround speakers ran full range .

Doesn't matter this is they way it was done back in the day and it is still the preferred method by REL for there powered subs, using the High Level inputs, looks like this.:

Looks like a downfiring sub but someone who owned it previously brokenthe pegs for that , so will use it front firing .I have no idea what that is??? Most likely it would make a bigger difference with smaller "real/true" bookshelf speakers than larger ones??
But you'll have to hook it up to your gear to see what it does?? If it's to boomy ... stuff a pair of socks in the port! It sounds silly but it kinda works!
It sounds fine hooked to my old stereoThe images of it online, seem to indicate it is a passive sub. It's most likely an 8 ohm passive subwoofer so an easy load to drive. If you'd post pictures of the inputs ... we could stop guessing.
It's not really worth "fussing" with for the most part?? But if you want to use it with another system you can. You run speakers to the sub from the amp and from the sub to the speakers and your done! If it proves to be too "boomy" stuff a pair of socks in the port.
And sure you could drive it with a separate amp but for that sub, it would be overkill?? Now if you happen to have amps and stuff laying about unused and want to set something up just cuz you can ... that is different?? But we'd need a lot more details on the gear your using. My moto is KISS. I'm ticked off now cuz, I had to go from two buttons, AVR/TV to uh three, TV, Preamp and a Power Amp to turn the TV on! First World problem ... sometimes life is tuff??
My stereo integrity is in my bedroom if I find a job for a second one I’ll probably no longer use any of my lower end subs . Optimus is in basement , hooked to a obsolete Sony stereo hifi receiver .
