Sorry pushed the enter button too fast - several of my fronds (audio nuts and regular people) listened to the NS-1000/Shindo with jazz and female vocals and they were all blown away. If you like music like that I would say with any decent tub amp 20-30 wpm you will be enjoying the Yammies.

I think you will need to get used to the perception of "thin" bass, and not as full bodied mid bass as the Altecs. With the NS-1000, some of the recordings can sound shrill depending on your equipment. A local AKer here has a system set up with the NS-1000, and another system with a more full bodied sound, and switches between the systems...
