Ordered some JBL Studio 530s thisafternoon....

I have a pair already, but they are old. Time for a fresh pair. These are bound for the vinyl room and will be a direct replacement for the older pair. One of the best bookshelf speakers I have ever heard or owned. JBL did discontinue these, but I sent them several emails on the subject. Don't know if those emails changed their minds, but they changed their minds. These are perfect for the smaller room. big bass for a little 5 1/4" woofer, symbiotic horn tops it off.

Now that I have the 590s, and see from the spec sheet that the 530s use the same compression driver/waveguide. I bet they are amazing.

I want a pair of the 530s, (slaps forehead)

Maybe they would perform well in a much larger space with a pair of bucket subs supplementing them...

You are probably right!

My older pair is going to be inserted into another system, but its also in a smaller room. Maybe I should put them in the digital room and hook them up to the Sunfire II amp (about 600 WRMS per channel).

I think JBL designed them for surrounds in an AV set-up, but I think they work excellently as smaller bookshelves. Your 590s would dwarf them.

BTW< I'm done buying speakers.......heh, heh.

They are some good bookshelf speakers and are for real. The woofer and Bi-Radial horn tweeter play well together.

If you go that route, just for giggles mind you, please let us know. I’ve been acquiring the pieces and parts for some Bucket Subs (too many partial projects syndrome) and have the 530’s in their box of all places. They are just out of rotation currently, the vast majority of my speakers are large to extra-large, but the reviews of the 530’s looked too good to not have a pair, and then I saw that JBL discontinued them  (at least for a little while), glad I picked them up when I did, somewhat thanks to your praise of them here .

I couldn't resist! I ordered a pair to try out. Can't beat the price, with free shipping and extended return policy through end of January. Thanks for the heads up :naughty:

Well if WaynerN just bought a second pair than maybe they might be pretty good. Just ordered a pair as well.

You guys are getting them for $300 less. I paid $600 for my set, never thinking they would go on sale! Oh well. At least I didn't pay a grand for the first set (off the bay).

I just bought a pair too. Couldn’t resist.
If there are owners that can comment on their experiences that would be appreciated.

Just got e-mail notice my 530's have shipped. Hoping to see them here Monday. I have been trying to find out everything I can about them and so far have been impressed about what I have read.

Congrats to all that have been able to order the 530's!

I've long been intrigued by them and would like to one day get a pair myself to see how they compare to my $1500 Synthesis 4306 monitors, but financially now is not the time.

Thinking about pulling the trigger before the sale ends...however, I see the suggested rating for the top end at 125w. Am I asking for trouble by driving them from my 1280? (185w)

I am long past the "rattle the windows and piss off the neighbors" phase of my life, but...I ain't exactly dead yet, either. ;)
