How does the newer Kappa Series II compare to the original reference Kappas in terms of sound quality?

This has been discussed in detail in other threads if you want to have a look.
My opinion is that the first gen Kappa's walk all over the newer series. There are people who will argue this, and everyone is entitled to an opinion.

BTW, I assume you mean original Kappa vs. x.1 Kappas (of which there was also a Seriess II with slight differences), e.g. 8 Kappa vs Kappa 8.1.

This is definitely discussed in detail elsewhere. I know I added my own details thoughts to at least one of those threads. I agree with MrLegit that the originals edge out the x.1s, but the latter are still very nice speakers. The x.1s are also not as difficult a load to drive as the originals. They still like a stout amplifier, but they are not the amp-killers like the originals.

I think that Infinity is just one example of when big corporations take over smaller companies from that point on it is a race to the bottom. It happens in most all forms of products, a big corporation purchases a small company that has established a name based on great products, then it uses that reputation and starts manufactoring ever increasing amounts of inferiour products at cheaper and cheaper prices to capture an unknowing consumer who thinks now they can afford a great product that before was out of their reach as far as price range. The list of products is never ending but a good example is like Jaguar, and Mercedes Benz, bought up by larger companies and now you can buy what was once a car for Doctors and more affluent people and made now for the masses, but they are not anything like the hand built ones of the past.
