Pacific Northwest AK Gathering/Meet 15th Oct.

Sure Ed,bring anything audio to sell, table sales will commence as soon as you can stay off the throngs of AK members clammering at the door, trying to grab whatever, before whats-his-name get's his greedy little hands on it first!! :music: No,seriously,I think it will be fun to see other members stuff for sale, and I hope the "show & tell/museum/brag-cause-I-have-it-and-you-don't"table will be interesting. :thmbsp: Rob

WELL Rob I'll donate 10 albums of the door prise winners choice to the cause. I have about 300 to bring up so I can spare a few LOL.

Thanks Ernie, wish you and others could be here too,it's the first Pacific Northwest gathering that I know of,can't wait to meet other AK members in person, and see/hear/touch the controls of some interesting audio gear.It been encouraging to hear from all the local AK members who can be here in person on Whidbey Island on Sunday (just about 1 day away...yipee!!!!  ) The door prize contributions are great from other members,I don't have anything spectacular, just a little something to "break the ice" and make everyone feel welcome in a very confortable audio home that I have found here in the AK family!! :music: Rob

Free swag is good! Be sure to post pics of the winners, with their loot!

I'm sure you'll be an excellent host.

I'll be bringing a few pieces of equipment to show off. And I may bring one or two pieces to trade also, as well as some records to trade, and CDs to play.

Between me and Mark W.,we should have quite a few photos to post later in the day,if not on Monday. The weather here tomorrow suppose to be rainy, just the right kind of day to have an AK gathering...stay inside and listen to audio gear, chat with other AK members,buy/sell/swap/drool over some cool stereo equipment...it's goin' to be sweet!! :music:  Rob

Harrumph! I feel like skippin' work on Sunday. It'll mean I go to jail on Monday, but at least I got to go to the AK NW Fest. :scratch2:

Ya'll have lots of fun. Please send me an Executive Summary with pics if you can :D

OK cars LOADED and I mean Loaded. I have a full three apple boxes of albums to trade or sell.

I'm bringing a Pair of Sansui SP-3500's for sale and My DIY RCM for show and tell. Also a couple other things to show and tell.

Wish I could bring more but I want to leave some room for Ron and his stuff LOL Also not sure what the GVW of a 97 Saturn is but this one should stick to the ground real well on the way up.

Hope I don't find any gear I just gotta have since unless I sell something I may have to tape anything new on the roof to get it HOME LOL

You guys better show up. thats all I have to say about that

DAMN I CAN'T wait..

Hey guys,
I will say though that I did do some thrift shop hunting while up there. I think the below link will take you to a very nicely built and run thrift store that benefits the local seniors.

Bart, thanks for the plug on the thrift store. I volunteer there once every couple of weeks but there's way too much stuff for me to keep ahead of. I'd bring you something when I visit my Mom in Fullerton but my suitcase is always full too!

HEY BART!!!What's the big idea givin' the AK crowd directions to my favorite thrift store!!!  :D It's ok...I am at work here in Freeland today and tomorrow, and my workplace is just a minute's walk away from the Senior Thrift.Been there today, not much happenin',found a nice Onkyo and Sony dubbing cassette deck today, and some used metal bias cassette tapes. This thrift has been very good to me in the past, found my first Marantz receiver there, and my latest find was a set of Timeframe(is that the right name?,will have to look) speakers. One of the AK members coming on Sunday volunteers there at the thrift,he gets an occasional goodie there every once and a while, unfortantely, they use Ebay as a price reference sometimes,so the prices they ask for on some of their vintage stuff reflects that.Otherwise it's a great place to check out.I won't tell you about my other "haunts",got to have some to my self, you know :thmbsp:  Rob

I do use eBay completed listings as a price guide for the better stuff, but the pricing policy is 1/3 to 1/2 of what a comparable item would bring on eBay. Seems fair to me, since I've given it a quick once-over and you get to try before buying. The regular customers (bottom feeders like me!) grumble a little, but the stuff I've priced usually sells pretty quickly. If I haven't been in for a while- like the last few weeks- you might get a steal or see some items overpriced.

I do get an occasional goodie from the store, but the catch is that I have to put it out on the floor for a few days before buying it. Darn it, who bought those nice small oak speakers that I wanted to use as the basis for a project?

Just email me and I'll tell you all about Rob's other favorite places. I'm not telling him or you any of mine!

Hi Steve and all youse guys in Whidbey,

I hope you enjoy the day together. I really have fond memories of the island and the people up there are so mellow. I always enjoy the Pacific Northwest and BC/Vancouver, its becoming my favorite vacation area when I want to really get away from California (not that we don't have a lot of great places here too).

Steve, that store is probably one of the nicest, well kept thrift stores I've ever been in. Whatever the pricing policy, it all goes to a good cause. Its probably the seniors who are donating alot of the stuff too! I'm glad they have someone like you to check stuff out - when it has been marked as working, then there's more interest in the item.

Have a great day, and don't play the music too loud!!

Regards,

Bart

It's 7:00PM. You guys should be driving home, happy and full of hot dogs and soda, and good times. Hopefully you'll all regale us with your exploits and
:worthless

Bart

Mark won't be home until late. But Retro has been home for hours. Perhaps he is just editing the pics on his computer at the mopment... :scratch2:

It was good getting to meet some of you guys. Thanks Retrokeeper for hosting this event!!! :thmbsp:

Sorry for the delay...I type REALLY SLOW!!  and wanted to add narratives to my photos...so go to PhotoBucket.com,enter "retrokeeper" into the Image Search box and see how the first ever Pacific Northwest AK meet played out in photo's and words.I had a great time,we had about 8 people show up,a good turnout I feel,at least for the first of such meets. Those who attended where....Retrokeeper(Rob...me!!)Nosirrah(Casey),EColeman(Ed),a friend of Ed's,Porter....let's see...Bozak Ron(Ron) & Mark W (Mark) ,who were our long-distance guys up from Portland,Goldear(Jim),and Steve (BPlus). So all in all,a nice bunch of guys, and see the photos to see some cool audio stuff brought in by the group.I think everyone had a good time and hope to do it again  :thmbsp: Rob
