This is the first time my automated search (asking ≤ $200) picked it up. I think they just dropped the price.

Ha, just saw this post: I purchased these on CL from Mike, and I quite happy with them. They required refoaming for the woofers, and one of the baffles is cracked, so will have to replace that too. Otherwise, very impressed with the DQ-10s.

Very nice. You got a great deal. Is the baffle crack just a cosmetic issue or does it allow air to leak through?

Since the DQ-10 is an open baffle design for the four non-woofer speakers, the damaged baffle does not change the air flow, but it does not provide as stiff mounting for the midrange and tweeter speakers. The baffle for the midrange is utilized as the mount for the baffle that holds the twitter, but at some time the latter part was bend backward, fracturing and separating the layers that comprise the top of the midrange baffle containing the two screws holding the twitter baffle to it. I will need to replace the midrange baffle at some time as I want to make sure the twitter baffle is mounted stiffly and not susceptible to shaking due to woofer's etc... I just need to figure what is the appropriate material for the replacement baffle, and whether I do need to replace the corresponding baffle on the other speaker too, for matching...

I believe that it's just a panel of 1/4" masonite, painted black; yep, just checked mine. If you're just matching the existing good panel, I can't see any reason to replace both (it's just to hold the drivers in space).

Thanks a lot @jberger ! I will try to get a slap of the masonite, and try to cut it to size: getting the exact and even round hole may be a little bit challenging without an oscillating spindle sander, but will find a way!

Grab a glass of the appropriate size and draw the circle, then cut with a saber saw. Or, just lay the old panel over the new one, and trace where the circles and mounting holes go.

It's going to be covered by the speaker mounting flange anyway, so precision circular cuts aren't critical. If you totally screw it up, just start again with another $2 chunk of masonite.

Do the full recap as well while you're at it.
I had my share of fun with DQ10's and have impressed some of my listening buddies back in the days.
Some call it "a poorman's Quad", but I think they can be better speakers in more types of music than the Quads.

I will try to get the hole cut with a coping saw: may take some time but can be quite precise. As far as the recapping, I have not really though about that step yet: These sound pretty good at the moment, and I am not sure if replacing with the new caps will change the sound: I can see that people did the recap if they did not like the original sound much, but I am quite happy with the current sound. I am y have to see what are the good cap replacements if I do want to recap while keeping the original sound... A higher priority is to find a Dahlquist LP-1 active crossover and pair with DQ-1W subwoofer!
