PCB files contributed for redesigned Sansui 9090DB F-2655 Dolby board

Here’s a dumb thought - say I installed this board without installing any components - that would more or less be a Dolby bypass, correct? Nothing not Dolby should flow through a component I think….
It's been almost a year since you suggested this. Have you tried it? Would this allow all the other inputs to function?

I'm asking because I have a 9090DB in the shop with "Dolby Sickness". I'm considering having the F-2655 replaced with a blank as you suggested temporarily so I can send it off for parts to someone who can build me one of the new "Biroc boards".

This of course means I would also need to find someone who could build the replacement for me... any suggestions?

Thanks,
Wolf

If you're looking to bypass the Dolby board look at this thread. It bypasses the board but saves the tape monitor functions.

Start around post #34.

Thank you for that. I did find that thread already and read it with great interest. It was by combining the information in the "Fixit" thread along with this thread that I came up with a possible plan to eventually replace the F-2655 board in both of my 9090DB's, while still having a working unit through the process.

What was not addressed in THIS thread is more information on Ivandezande's "dummy" board suggestion, regarding if that route would retain functional inputs ,meters, etc.

The method that Globulator presented in the other thread might be better as a permanent bypass, but at the end of the day I'm agreeing with LBPete (and others) that the most desirable repair would be to return the stereo to full original state.

I'm not qualified to do this type of work myself, and since the contractor would need the existing Dolby board for parts, I'm basicaly interested in which type of temporary bypass would be the easiest for a tech (or possibly myself) to undo at some point down the road when a replacement F-2655 has been obtained.

Thanks,
Wolf
