Peerless tweets? How can you tell?

That is not a Peerless tweeter based upon its appearance as the early Peerless domes were treated black cloth (nothing light colored or shiny in the dome's appearance) and the lead wires came in from the sides at a much more pronounced angle. This looks more like like the tweeters Polk used after they quit using the Peerless domes and those tweeters seemed to be specific to Polk speakers only.

I love it! How do peerless look different? Is this an older tweet, how does it sound different than peerless?
As Stickman said above, the Peerless tweeters were black cloth dome and the leads came out and angled downward as opposed to horizontally. They preceded the use of the Polk SL2000. The Polk SL2000 tweeter pictured has a pronounced 5dB response peak making it a bit harsh and fatiguing. Polk Audio addressed the SL2000's issues by redesigning it and releasing the drop-in replacement tweeter RDO-194 which are available from Polk Audio.

The Peerless tweeter was replaced by the SL1000, which was later replaced by the SL2000 which in turn was replaced by the SL3000.
Read all about it and how resonance peaks are inherent in dome tweeters.
