Peter Frampton's Prized Guitar Found Over 30 Years After Plane Crash

Whatever the hell happened, that's a special guitar that probably means worlds to Peter Frampton. I'm happy for him. I don't like his music, but this is a badass story and I'm glad he's going to refurbish the guitar.

I can't believe this! Absolutely-amazing..... And yes, that guitar meant the world to him. That guitar was as important (or even more-important) to him as Duane Allman's sunburst Les Paul was to him (the one he played at the famous Fillmore East shows - the one that had the pickups from his gold-top Les Paul in it - the one that he got in a trade for the gold-top). I had always been under the impression that Frampton's 3-pickup Les Paul burned along with a tractor-trailer full of equipment that caught fire back in like '79-'80 (I had actually read this in a magazine years ago, so I always assumed it to be true... Man, you can't trust anybody...).

I fully-understand how a certain guitar can be very-special to someone. Some guitars just feel and sound RIGHT. They become a part of you... an extension of your soul. My main guitar is a $500 Dean (Les Paul-style with a set neck - Honduras mahogany body/neck) that I modified with better pickups/hardware (Seymour Duncan Seth Lover p/u's). It has a neck that seems to fit my hand like a glove. I've played it for several years now, and whenever I try other guitars including real-deal, $2000+ Gibson Les Pauls, I just end up hating them (and I used to LOVE Gibsons). The necks don't feel right, and they never seem to have the expressiveness and tonal-flexibility that my Dean has (Also, the new Gibsons are nothing like the old ones). Plus, my Dean has incredible sustain. I couldn't imagine losing it (This is the same guitar I was playing in that YouTube video I posted a while back... Love that thing). I realize Frampton's probably insured that Les Paul for big bucks like he said in the article, but I hope he's still gonna' play it on tour like he used to back in the '70's. That would be awesome.

That performance from the "Midnight Special" episode is great, isn't it? I have that on my hard drive along with other MS stuff. I used to watch that show back in the day, and it was the greatest thing ever. They just don't have cool stuff like that on TV anymore (stuff like Night Flight and that sort of thing). I miss those days.

*Edit* - Hey.... Whaddaya' mean, you don't like his music?? How can you not like Peter Frampton?? That's like not liking Eric Clapton... or the Allman Brothers... or Deep Purple.... Very-strange. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Just kidding... Some people don't like Zeppelin either... Doesn't make them aliens...

+1

Especially liked the Humble Pie years, but the Camel and solo work really "shines on" too!
