Does the Pickering DE stylus on LPGear fit the Stanton 500 bodies? Did I read that somewhere in the thread, or am I crazy? Are their any other light tracking ellipticals for it?
Surprising. I have great luck with those.
For about $20, there is the EVG PM4052DE/4606-DEX. This gets high marks, especially for the price.
For $35-40, there's the Pfanstiehl 4822-DEE. This usually requires a bit extra tracking force unless you've got a heavy arm. Really nice sound.
For $54 plus $22 shipping (buy two and save), the Jico from the Jico website for the Pickering D1200 is outstanding.
Yes, it fits all of them. It's the best choice for a light tracking elliptical.
i have searched for a xsv 5000 many times with no luck, or way too much $$$ for me ,very nice cart my friend. Top dog to some.Still on the topic of the XSV/5000 and the fact that the XLZ7500S uses the same stylus [still surprised over that]
I talked to the previous owner who stated it has very low output no wonder at .3 mv output and used on a mm input.
Under magnification the stylus looks pristine.
Since there are no compliance figures stated for either the XSV5000 or XLZ7500S
any one happen to have an educated guess?
it appears the 7500S is the same as the 981LZmk IIs
Grabbed a Stanton 680ee body, with a Pfanstiehl 4822-DEE-P stylus off ebay today. The Pickering XV-15 styli fit the body too, right? Anyone heard either of the light tracking EVG's for it TVOM sells?
Stanton D6071A sounds great at 3 grams and is bullet-proof. Stanton 6807A tracks lighter and sounds a bit better but is harder to find. What is a good conical to use with a 680/81. I would like to play a couple of records that have too much surface noise for my other carts. The records have been cleaned. Thanks
Jico Shibata for D4500Q will get you 95% the original sound. LPGear XSV/3000 Stylus will get you 90% there. Pfanstiehl 4822-DEE also very competent in this cartridge.
4606-DEM is also excellent and cheaper. Doesn’t track quite as lightly as the DEX. IIRC, it needs like 1.5g to kill sibilance, so won’t work for P Mount T4P but if you can adjust tracking force you can get it to work.
