Pickering DTL-1 stylus

I have a Pickering DTL-1 stylus. It says it is a “floating stylus” for linear tracking turntables. Does that mean it is not supposed to be used on a regular turntable?
What is the difference between floating or not?

No. It's just pretty much a marketing term. The stylus assembly had a flexible suspension(otherwise it would not track) and they deemed to call it floating.
