Picking up 6 Klipsch Pro Heresy ll's

Three pairs of Klipsch Pro Heresy ll's. Owner says they are the painted plywood edition. Any info on these from anyone?

They are 4 or 5 db more efficient than the consumer version. They are ported like a Corn wall to increase the efficiency and yet try to keep the same bass freq response as the home units. I think they were rated at 100 watts, but be careful or you'll trash the tweeters. You can always upgrade the tweeters if they are damaged. You can stack them horizonatlly 3 high to increase levels on a riser add maybe a 1/3 octave extension to the bass. You better have Mac amps with 2 ohm out puts with power guard to protect your speakers if stacked and wired in parallel. We used them and the corner versions for monitor speakers and for small area speakers and they never failed to perform with great success.

Are you talking KP250? If so, bass falls way off very quickly below 100Hz. Work great in a low-powered tube home theater, however (I'm running my L/C/R KP250 speakers with a trio of 15W Fisher 30A amplifiers).

Hell, get a good subwoofer and you have an instant 6.1 home theater right there!

If they are ported, physics dictates they are less efficient. The bass can go slightly deeper in the same enclosure, but without the sensitivity rating of regular Hereys.

The speakers are the KP-201's. They look to be unfinished birch and are not ported. I'll post a pic tomorrow. I got 6 for $150.00 and they appear to work perfectly.

Impressive haul!

I got a pair of HPS SR-70's (theatrical heresies) for $250/pr and think they sound just fine, with additional bass reinforcement (just like any Heresy).

Most comments above do not apply to KP201. I have 2 of them as mains in my 5.1 HT. They are identical to Heresy II re driver complement and sound. Perhaps slightly different cabinet volume. Crossovers are slightly heavier duty than HII but same component values. I recommend replacing all capacitors to bring crossover parameters back into factory spec. You may also prefer the sound of Crites titanium diaphragms for the tweeters, an easy swap but will cost you a lot for 6! Mine are stock exc. for new caps and sound excellent with good music or movie content. They are "unforgiving" of mediocre content. A sub is a must for HT. I got a killer deal at $150/pair. You got a mass-murder deal, congrats! Search Klipsch Forums for lots of great information, especially from Moray James and colterphoto1.

I use to custom make utility cabinets for Altec 619, 617, 604, 605, 515, 418, 421, 416 414, all 3000 series woofers. and Ev and JBL , that were ported and the sensitivity never dropped, where did you get the idea it would. If anything the sensitivity increased because the back wave wasn't pushing against the cone, it had an outlet.

I just wanted to say I had 2 pair of SR70's, I really liked them. I got them out of a theater in Natick Ma. NICE!!!!

A guy named Paul told me the cabs were optimized for the twin parameters of max sensitivity at a given bass response, twiii. Since he owned the company and had the plots in hand that he personally measured, I believed him.
