Finally got the bedroom system done. Done as much as it can be called done keeping in mind the constant need to change things around.
Receiver is my recently refurbed SX-1010 (all recapped, upgraded some transistors and put LEDs in it), Carver SD/A-450 CDP, Bic BeamBox tunable antenna, Pioneer PL-707 with Shure M97xe and homemade dust cover. Speakers are some Boston T830 3-ways that I scored at the dump (aka free). They needed reconing and I upgraded the caps with the Dayton polys. Speaker wires are just 12 gauge generic stuff covered in braided material with gold pins on the ends.
I'm lovin' it and the wife is quite tolerant. She even said she likes the wood finish on the speakers.

What year are your 100s, mine are from 78. I saw some 150s and 200s on ebay the other day from the early 80s and the build quality seemed to be cheaper than the earlier versions.

On a sidenote I really recommend taking them apart pulling out the old cable and replacing it with silver composite cable and then replace the old foam with a sort of wool material. All the old foam in mine had turned into a sticky mess

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. The speakers are KLH 17s, which I switch out now and then for B&W DM110s.

a lot of changes since last time i posted my setup here. mainly been listening to the maggie amps (EL84 SE, 6V6 PP, & etc.). for last several months, i really didn't have any reason to rotate them with other big name tube amps since i'm really enjoying how they sound - specially with altec/ecowave speakers in the picture.

i saw some modded maggie amps on ebay going for little over $100!!!! wow, what a deal. if anyone's curious about these little console amps, you should get one and try - you won't be sorry. or if you have one sitting in the garage, restore them! i really think maggie amps are the best deal these days. :thmbsp:

yes, it is. i had a pair of these black widows and broke one when a cd case fell on it while i was cleaning the rack. that's why the thorens in the picture is armless.... quite fragile and light arm, but sounds really great.

I have always liked the looks of those arms, one day I would like to get one for my Micro Seiki BL-41, the stock arm on it is black widow'ish looking but it would look so much better with and actual black widow on it.

you're right.....but i have to admit that i get lazy sometimes and don't wanna go through all that ritual and just pop a cd in. whenever there's critical listening....no doubt the records kick cds in the balls though :thmbsp: that's why i keep my records collection in the back of the room even though i have severe dust allergy whenever i go through them.

Here is shot of my humble setup. Don't have a big house, so this one little slice of the living room is what the fiance allows me! The other set of speakers are on the other side of the room, out of the picture. I would love to have a dedicated listening area, but don't have the room for such. This works very well for now.

Are those JBL floor standers and the ones in the shelving from the Northridge Series? If so, my home theater consists of E100 mains, E35 center and E30 surrounds. I've been happy with them for the cost. When I get my Phase Linear 400 power amp up and running, I'm going to hook the E100s up in an analog system and see what happens.

Ok, here is my cave. It is a converted dinning room 12.5 X 12.5 not ideal
but we never ate in there anyway and I use this every night now.
The Marantz is hooked up to the hpm 100 e-waves and the pioneer is
hooked to the Kustom DJ cabs and will pin you to the seat and send bass
right through your body if needed. Both receivers are pigtailed into a Radio
Shack selector box and the digital Panosonic has been relegated to power
my deck speakers.
