There ya go. Those speaker stacks are ridiculous. :thmbsp:

And I want your amp and preamp. A C4 went on ebay a while ago for $25. Apparently my brain had turned to pea soup because I didn't bid. :tears:

Thanks for the pics John, fantastic pad you got there.

Chicago is a great place to find old things. I had basically nothing pictured 5 years ago when I moved here....you can see how I spend my weekends, at estate sales and thrift stores. Though I'm really sick of thrift stores: they're pretty nasty in the city.

So you have a thread on your Empire TT?

No but it's mentioned in this thread about my VPI:

If you're at all interested in an Empire, I can't recommend the 208 enough, as long as you find a good cart match for the arm (The Denon DL-103 works really well). Even unmodded mine sounds really good to me. It's not perfect but has a musicality that to my ears surpasses a lot of later turntables. I'm still looking for affordable examples of the 598 and 698.

I just uploaded a bunch of pictures of my listening area (which is kind of my whole apartment) for anyone interested. I figured it would be easier to post the link...sorry for the added step. A lot of these are from my thread about matching vintage gear with vintage interiors:

Glad to see the Luxman's off the bench and in your apartment now. I'm a little jealous that you got the "wood" cladding with your 4100. I may try to fab my own, if I ever get that jigsaw. :)

I have to tell you..that's the cheapest looking 'wood' case I've seen on any reciever, and it's on a Mac? I do believe it's vinyl...if it's veneer they went to great lengths to make it look and feel like vinyl. "Now with simulated vinyl veneer!". I love the look of the rest of it, so it might get a custom case. That receiver would look so much better in a case that isn't such an afterthought.

I think that Lux picture was from back when it was broken..but it is back now, driving my bedroom Kef 103.2s. That is a sweet combination, wish you were still in town to hear it.
