Pilot SA-232 - Electrolytic Capacitors and Heat

Good input. Did your unit have a tube cage? Did it have 4 ohm output taps as well as the 16 and 8 ohm taps?

No cage. The OPTs have 16 and 8 ohm outputs, but there is also an extra tap that is cut short and taped off.
It looks to be done at the Pilot factory. I'm guessing they are the 4 ohm output taps.

If I knew what model and brand output transformer, (Triad?) I could try to find data and confirm it.
I quickly measured DCR with regard to the output leads, and feel they are 4 ohm taps.
I need to remeasure the DCR again with the Simpson 260 to maybe get a better idea...
 
I had the 260 version, and that was really crispy, didn't dare touch the power transformer wiring for fear that the insulation would crumble and fall off. There are several high power resistors near the wiring in question.
