Pioneer PDR-W739 no drawer open

Dan Schafer

Got a Pioneer model PDR-W739 CD recorder. There are discs in the (3-disc) drawer the message says "open" but none of the drawers will open. How can I get my discs out? Is this know to be a troublesome recorder?
Thanks

If all you want is your discs back, then you could slowly pry the drawer open with the machine off, or take off the case and remove them that way.

If you want to thing to open and close like it should...sounds like you need to open the case and see if something has slipped or is obviously wrong with the mechanism that opens and closes the drawer. If it's a mechanical failure it could be fixable. If not...

My vote is for never prying - parts can break (I've fixed too many of those...) BUT removing the case to retrieve the disks safely and see what's holding the drawer closed is an EXCELLENT start. You may get lucky and just have a bad belt or switch...
