yep. maybe a light tap on the spindle with the butt of a screwdriver as you pull up
First you remove the rubber mat from the platter and you will see two round "finger holes" on either side of the spindle. Use these holes for grip and then pull the platter straight up to remove it from the spindle. Sometimes the platter can be settled on the spindle pretty tightly after a long time without removal so a quick jerk or two upward might be necessary to dislodge it. If that doesn't work I would put a drop of penetrating oil on the spindle and let it set for a while and then try again. As a last resort I would tap lightly on the spindle with a plastic hammer while applying the upward force. The platter should definitely be coming off at that point. Best of luck with it!

Definitely make sure to clean the penetrating oil off if you use it, though. Oil of any kind will gum up the rubber mat if it sits for long enough!
Not any other turntable. There are tons of models that have a c-clip around the spindle holding the platter down, and sometimes it's hidden under a rubber disc. I have owned exactly zero Pioneer tables, just saying that in general you should check for a clip.
I just checked my 530 to be positive, and there's no clip. Not even a groove with a missing clip.
I've had a few Duals that the clip has vanished from...

Sometimes they get stuck and you can try some light tapping on the spindle as you pull up on the platter with the finger holes. But don't get carried away and risk damaging the spindle and/or bearing.
If you have a piece of wood about 3/4" thick that is about 6"L x 2" W then drill a 5/16" hole about a 1/4'" deep centered on the wood you can place the spindle into the hole you drilled and then use the wood as a means to push down on the spindle as you press down on the wood block at both ends.

Because it's a direct drive it's conceivable that the platter has never been removed since the day the turntable was made. It could really be stuck on there. I had a pretty bad one once, coincidentally a PL-530, and I had to give it 2 pretty sharp raps with a heavy nylon hammer to get the platter off.
If you don't have the appropriate hammer a regular 16 oz. hammer will do if you put a small piece of wood over the top of the spindle and hit that with the hammer instead of the spindle. The important thing is to be pulling up on the platter when you hit the spindle.

total success. I tapped w/ a 6 in one screwdriver handle... no dice... decided to get the trusty deox-it spray and give it a juice...just a dab on spindle. 30 seconds later, platter popped right off w/ that amazing multi-tonal sustained ringing.
