Pioneer SA-9500 Wood Case

sawdust

Solid walnut covers all my gear
I want to make a wood case for a Pioneer SA-9500 and I need the size of the cut outs in the sides and where they are positioned in the sides . If anyone can help I appreciate it .

Do you have the other dimensions?

slide in box or u shaped wrap over?

edit - slide in box hole:
wide 16 7/32
tall 5 26/32 (counting bottom screws 5 22/32)
deep 13 25/32

This thing seems to be keyed in metric, so there will be strange fractions, so I'll go with 32nd inch and round up to

The faceplate is the only thing I can be sure is square.
I will reference everything off of THE BACK of it. so it's thickness won't matter.
Faceplate is 16 17/32 wide, 6 3/32 tall and 6/32 thick

Top of unit case is smooth with recessed screw heads
it is recessed in ("reveal") 6/32 inch
due to weirdness with the side, the top plate would NOT be good measure of the width, because they are not square to the widest point.

bottom of unit has exposed screw heads (quantity 10 edit-plus 2 for the fuse plate) that stand 3mm (slightly under 4/32) tall
cutting the 6/32 inch recess/reveal to 2/32
edit -
uh oh, there's a fuse access plate with smaller screws, but it stays under the 4/32 total.

making the height of the case 6 6/32 - (top) 6/32 - (bottom) 6/32 = 5 26/32 minus 4/32 tall screws = 5 22/32

there are VENTS along the back part of the top and bottom plates, starting 11 3/4 inch back from the back of the faceplate, extending about 1 3/4 inches further back, ending about 1/4 inch shy of the end of the plate.
They are about 11 1/4 wide, centered on the plate.

right side of case (9 pair rca inputs, 2 ground screws in the pocket)
is recessed 6/32 in from the face.
It is NOT flat, it appears to taper in 2/32 at top and bottom.
it is 13 25/32 deep and it is LEVEL with the top of the back panel screw heads.
The heat sink fins protruding from the back panel stand 30/32 proud of the screw heads

The right side pocket starts at 3 16/32 from the back of the faceplate
and extends to 12 26/32 where a bracket 25/32 wide extends to 13 20/32
The pocket drops 3 16/32 down from the top of the unit, and is 1 15/32 wide.
thus the pocket is 3.5 x tall and just shy of 1.5 inches wide and 10.25 inches long including the bracket that the cables thread through.

The left side of the case (3 ac outlets, 2 sets of speaker terminals, 2 pairs of RCA jacks) has one extra interfering feature.
there are two screw heads protruding from an additional plate for a voltage selector.
The left side of the case appears to be identical with the right side,
EXCEPT the left side is only recessed 4/32 in from the face. instead of 6/32.
It is NOT flat, it appears to taper in 2/32 at top and bottom.
it is 13 25/32 deep and it is LEVEL with the top of the back panel screw heads.
The heat sink fins protruding from the back panel stand 30/32 proud of the rear panel screw heads
the protruding voltage selector plate add 1/32 height and with the screw heads is slightly shy of 4/32.

The left side pocket measures to be identical

The width (calculated) of the sa-9500 body is thus (16 17/32 wide - 6/32 - 4/32 = ) 16 7/32 .

As you can tell, I have hands on with a SA-9500, whereas I think you don't...
wanna get your hands on it?
While I have confidence in my measurements, I can't be sure we are on the same "page".
I am not a carpenter or cabinetmaker

Ok, with a slide in, the weight bearing bottom screws will definitely gouge.

Ok this is a picture of one that is finished with the bottom rails that raises it so that screws wont gouge it and I use longer screws through the feet to fasten the case to the unit.

Let me know if you need other dimensions, or want me to remeasure something, from different reference points.

As usual, that's beautiful work. :D

Slide rails... :thmbsp:

Adding two more measurements, just in case - as I am packing it back away momentarily.

The overall dimensions of the faceplate are:

wide 16 17/32
tall 6 2/32

Thank you Mark ,I was hoping a member had one in rough shape willing to send me to use for a pattern and in return well you know how that works out when everyone is happy . With the dimensions you have supplied me I am going to make one and send it , I will let you know how it works out.
