Pioneer SA 9800 Power Supply Board Help

ok i have started the rebuild on the power supply board now its a case of locating where transistors what i go from mouser go i knew i should of pulled them out one at a time. its funny because i have two sa 9800 and both power boards look different one has four fuses the other has two so maybe some parts maybe different



The service manual has that information for anyone who understands how to find it.

The boards are named zzz-999 (awr-194), then the individual parts are Q3 Q4 Q10 as related above. IF there are major differences (like # of fuses) they will CHANGE the board number - LOOK for yours!!!!!

Then the layout diagram shows the board from the FOIL side with the parts locations (q3 etc) identified.

Turn the board over, locate the symbol printed on the board at that point, which will identify which leads go where. THEN look up on the data sheet which wires are what lead, and insert appropriately.

You can trust the markings on the PCB, the reverse overlay in the SM or what you remember pulling out at your own peril.

You should study the PSU schematic and crosscheck the component placement on the PCB and confirm your replacement pinout. (errors in schematics happen too, but not as often as silkscreen errors and service manual overlay errors IMO)

YOU need to get the BOARD NUMBER off the board, it will have the first three letters and a dash screen printed on it, then the following three numbers are stamped by a stamp pad type printing.

THEN we can see what's ON the board, IF we can find it in a service manual.

It is NOWHERE near time to spend money and order things.

The alternative is to visually identify the caps, and their (important!!) colors.

the caps are black on the one i am fixing and is 2 fuse power supply board not sure ofnumber will have to recheck .on my other sa 9800 they are in light blue nichicon

the parts listed above are what mtf told me to order the psu board i have is a AWR 194C as pictured im guessing this is a early sa 9800 with two fuses on psu board but are the fitments the same there is a list on page on as in where each part number must go can please someone ammend this for me for the AWR 194C board im working on or is it the same they all go in the same Q positions as listed like below or does it need to be changed for the board im working on im guessing some may need to be removed as there is four transistors on this list with heatsinks

well thats the board there as you can see on the bottom of page 2 of this thread i have started the recap i just want to know if transistors all go back in to there same Q positions as in the list mtf listed on page one or is it different for this awr 194C

careful, you have to use the symbols in the "upside down" diagram and the data sheet to figure out which way the new transistors point.
It doesn't help that they are all "in-line" transistor mounts.

Cheers mark this board is proving a right pig to rebuild the back of the pcb in some spots is peeling can you send me a private message as to prices for your rebuilds fo sa 9800 as i know a few people what are very interested
 
any way of testing the psu board without switching on to make sure all caps n transistors have been installed correctly variac maybe? dnt want to fry anything
