Pioneer SX-1010 Recap & Refresh

John, I just received (another) SX1010 in for a complete recap. I did notice the last SX1010 I recapped had a toasty power supply. I was not aware there is a new PS board out there to be had. Is it possible you could send me a link to obtain one? Thank you in advance, Steven M.
 
pm rcs 16 as he makes them and sells them on ebay under delta9electronics or just check ebay out if you have an account under sx 1010 power supply board

Today the new power board arrived so i got straight to it and installed it. I used the headers, i just was not too confident given that someone had already been in before me and the power board had been worked on. Basically afraid of snapping some of those wires!

I just received my new power supply. Instructions say to only connect 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 12. Then test the outputs.
Did you do this? The website says the board is fully tested before shipment.
The stereo works completely right now, but my customer is paying for a full restoration. So that's what I'm going to do.

if rick adds instructions telling you to do this, i see no reason to NOT follow his instructions. he knows what he is doing.
 
Yes, 1-5. that is your transformer power in, 7 and 12 are grounds, 6, 9-11, 13-15 are your various receiver loads. I have used one of these designs in my own 1010, took a bi for readings to get proper, but once they did, this board helped me to create a monster of an Sx-1010. I do think it helped smooth out the power, resulting in a more efficient unit that can deliver more power safely, but also keeps it cooler. I do note mien takes a bit longer to warm up than the other 1010s with standard boards. Sort of makes sense, given the modern layout and the fact that the footprint is shorter in height over the original allowing for more airflow. I'd call that a win in my book.

Some people have drilled out new ventilation holes under the power supply/regulator board, did you bother to go that extra mile?

Nah no need for that if unit is in a typical climate controlled area, plus these units do need some heat in order to operate properly.
