If the case is in good condition other than having been sanded (still plenty of veneer remaining, no stains nor damage remaining) then refinishing should be a simple task. Assuming the seller means "survivor" as all original then you have a good starting point for a really nice unit.
If I were interested I'd show up with cash and offer $500 (if nice), see where it goes.
