Pioneer SX-1280 won't mute

Disassemble it and clean the contacts.

And make sure R9 and R10 on the flat amp (AWG-060) are intact and connected.

If you're talking about the audio mute there's not really too much to check.
The mute switch generally doesn't get much use, so as one suggested earlier
the contacts might just need cleaned. Other possibilities are what Watthour talked about earlier
concerning the resistors, and cold solder joints at the switch or at the resistors.
I would be surprised if the resistors themselves are bad, but never say never.

It is the audio mute, the last lever switch to the far right. Flipping it up and down won't do anything.
