Pioneer SX-636, worth 50€?

Freezer7Pro

Luxman!
I'm looking at a Pioneer SX-636 receiver (25WPC, 1972) in good condition. Would the asking price of 50€ shipped be reasonable, considering that it will need a lookover and new caps?

I don't know what that currency is but I think they are worth $50 US currency.

50€ is about $70.

EDIT: Here is a picture of the unit in question:

I've looked at the model a few times too. They improved some things in it over the SX-626. It seems like a nice receiver if you don't need a lot of power which I don't. A lot of folks on ebay ask too much but the ones that sell seem to be between $50-$75 so you are close.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna use it to drive my 93dB/1Wm Tandberg 2507's in the bedroom, so power isn't something I need much of.

Nice to hear that I'm on the right track. This is gonna be my first silverface Pioneer, going to be interesting after all that's said about them.

I believe you will like this unit. Also this series of Pioneer are some of the best looking receivers out there.

I have a SX-636. I can't help you on the price as I picked mine up out my neighbor's trash following an all night party they had thrown. 'Broken glass on the dial face and it didn't work, as a drink had been spilled in the top, but my local tech fixed it for not too much money. It has since been a very reliable receiver for many years. I'd say that that 25 wpc rating is very conservative. I enjoy its sound in my bedroom - I'd say it is on the warm side of neutral. Good luck!
