Pioneer SX-750

If you like it,and want it,you have to ask...is it worth it to you??? They are a decent receiver.I've had several pioneer receivers from the sx 450 up to the sx 1250,and 1280.Is 50 wpc going to be enough? If it is indeed in very good condition, with no issues, and had been serviced recently, yeah,it may be worth the asking price.Personally,I would try to get the seller to come down another $25.

I have and have sold a number of SX-750...very reliable, very well built receiver. In fact, I have one (paid $50) as the basis of a spare bedroom system driving a set of EPI-200's. I would consider buying one for $100, but it would have to either: 1) be one owner with documents or 2) exceptionally clean and fully functional. I agree with richd860 "If you like it,and want it,you have to ask...is it worth it to you??" and at a minimum "Personally,I would try to get the seller to come down another $25."

Ok

I'd say right on the edge at $100 just from what I see happening to prices. It would have to be clean and functional. The quality is not an issue nor the sound nor the looks. If you can budge them down a bit, great. The manuals for the old Pioneer are available on the internet (service manual being handy just in case). dgwojo has bulbs (and other sources).

A very clean SX-750 for $100 - worth it? And why?

$100 for a superbly made SX-750 in "very clean" condition. I would buy it if is it a local sale. Compare that to a new $100 receiver! Probably a cheap and ugly Sherwood, made of black plastic.

For reference, when I was getting started around Christmas I tried to buy a good condition SX650 for $60 shipped.

I just picked up a decent looking (only the vinyl was starting to peel, otherwise very clean) and fantastic sounding, no issue SX-650 last weekend with a set of ok looking but good drivers Sansui SP-200s for 35 total, if that gives you any indication. 3 weeks before that I picked up an absolutely mint SX-880 for 45.....

You have all given great advice, as usual here, and a good baseline for me to consider. Thanks
