PL-55DX setup

I just got a nice looking PL-55DX turntable yesterday. I can't get the the tone arm to return at end of play. It will raise and start to move then the table turns off. Can someone give me some guidance please?

Hi Mike,
I have the Pl55x. If you need the return parts, I have them. I took them of the '55x and made it a manual 'table. Try this.
Spin the platter while the arm is near the end of an LP.(Cue up), Do this with the power off. The arm might be between cycles. See if the arm begins to move to the shut-off position.
I can repair the table for you if you decide it needs repair.

Don't have a service manual (i think!?!?!) but I do have a user's manual deep in the bowels of downstairs. Give me a few days and I can put together copies/scans if you need the manual.

I've got PL-55X and PL-55DX and very happy with both!

Thanks for the response. I spun the platter as suggested and it didn't change anything. I have an owner's manual which I used for setup but this problem is not addressed.
It supposedly worked before shipment according to seller. It was poorly packed and the counterweight rolling around ruined the dust cover, stylus and who knows what. I'm looking for a cover if you have a spare.
