Playstation 1 CD Player?

are there any of the cheap aftermarket PS2 remotes that work? Prices for the original remote are about$11 shipped but there are dozens of the aftermarket ones.

Try a local game store. I stopped by Gamestop (I think that's what it is) and asked if they had any used Playstation 1 or 2 stuff like a remote. He checked the back room and came back with a PS2 remote+receiver and the PS1 A/V out cable. (Someone has a website saying that using the a/v out gave a cleaner signal.) I think it was like $8 for both. The remote/receiver would have been $5 by itself. I've been using them regularly for about a year now.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

PS1 original gray unit

:music: Well I am revisting this thread Any of you who subscribe to Stereophile will have probably seen the new recomended list of components. The Ps1 original launch unit recieved a C in the CD player rundown. Not bad some had said it should have gotten a low B still even better. So they can't be all qrong can they? I mean these guys review the real expensive stuff right? So I tried it again and it really does sound great Soo I saved $5000 on a CD player? well minus the $10 purchase price, They called it an isane audio value Well since I don't have a 5k CD player I guess I'll have to take their word. I'll have to give along listen with quite a few CD's

Tried one of the launch models, I prefer my Yamaha CDX-730 I got for a not so super price of $20. The PS1 is just, crispy or something...

You know, I don't disagree with all the reports of, it rates a C or B-, or this guy likes his Denon or Kawasaki, whatever player. I'm broke always have been, I'm a couple dollars a year from poverty. Ain't whining never will, I enjoy alot of things. One of them is this addiction to making my music as beautiful as I can. Do you guys Know of all the threads on Dyna Pas 2/3 and all the mods, Glass, Van Curcio. ... everyone says, I mean knows how good they sound with better caps and such, We've had one toe to toe with a C-22[McIntosh] regardless of which we think is better, The Pas walks side by side all the way, 3,000 dollars vs. $500 My point is, my ps1 with caps, and seperate power, if for nothing more than keeping heat off the laser, ROCKS!!!!!!!!! 2 Auricaps, by passed video section, power supply. I think 40 bucks all together, ROCKS!!!!! It is musical, clear, tight, fast, mids to die for,yes its a lower gain but it maintains all its presence, if the bass or highs[which kill my ears anyway] are rolled of I don't miss 'em'. For forty bucks. Coltrane, Krauss, Miles, Krall, MR. Peter Green, All these names cost to, too much to buy on my beloved wax, but are in my room just about every night and are smiling at me cause I snuck in the back door and got right up next to the stage for next to nothing. Worth every penny and a little time and sweat. of course there is better but not on my dime.

I don't knowif there is any relationship between the current issue of Stereophile or this forum or any source of info but 2 weeks ago I was at my local SA there were 6 PS1 on the shelf for ten bucks each I was there 2 days ago they were all gone except for one ps1 the one without the RCA jacks on the back you know the small white one. I am curious though the small white one which I have one of it has the option of effects ; Church ,Hall etc. I havn't tried it yet but I used it years ago in my upstairs system I don't remember how it sounded though. I will have to give it try again, though it doesn't have the RCA's, just to see and it does have a seperate power supply ie wall wart.
I guess it goes back to personal taste, your room, the music you listen to, and all those things that makes enjoyable to you. If it weren't there would be so many options of design application etc. in the audio world. Whatever floats your boat beacuse it all boils down to a very personal experience when we listen to music. As long as we are happy with what we have who cares? but it does make fun discussion material and we get to meet other people who share our passion for good music mine being the best for the shortet money.:thmbsp:

I've been sold on the PS1's for a long time. I also have a H/K 330c connected to one of mine. The other is hooked up to a Magnavox credenze, solid state.

A link to repairing faulty alignments:

http://dogbreath.de/PS1/LaserAlignment/Laser.html

This has worked on 2 different scph-1001 units. The third was not recoverable. It is mt parts unit currently.

I tried to do this adjustment, but I couldn't find an effective tool to manuever the bias adjustment. What is the proper tool to work on those parts?
