PNW Gathering 2009

Ive got the date written on my calendar and will focus
on it again next month to see where Im at ....
Id like to try make this one, Wanna Carpool Dick ?

Sounds good Mark, hope you can make it! I'm hearing that there are going to be a couple of Sansui super tuners there: SuiDog's TU-9900 and Susurus's TU-X1.:ntwrthy::thmbsp:

I'll try to bring my fancy Modified Cubic Quad indoor antenna. Maybe we can have a Tuner shoot out. If the guys are up for that I will big my ringer a 1964ish Scott 312 Broadcast tuner it uses a Hybrid circuit both tubes (nyvisters) and point to point wired SS amplifier section.

I'll have both 300 ohm and 75 ohm connecting cables.

Guess I will just leave my lowly TU-517 at home. Should have never sold my TX-9800II, but I wanted a black face to go with the rest of my equipment.

Shoot out

Doesn't compare with Steve's TU-X1 though.

I'd almost bet that if that 517 is in good form, using the same antenna, we could do a test, see if you can really reliably tell the differance in tonal quality between the TU-X1 and the TU 517.
Probably be a big differance in selectivity, DX etc. And the X1 will look cooler, but a local station, same antenna, and amp etc I bet $10 that a majority can't tell which is which after say 5 mins listening.
Don't get me wrong, that is on my short list of toys I gotta have before I die.

Casey:yes:

I'm new to the group here but live close by in Ridgefield, WA.

I've got a pair of Altec 19's and a pair of Altec 604's that I could bring.

Looking forward to meeting the rest of you.

Not too far from Portland, sounds good. If I don't sell it in the mean time, I could bring my TU-888 for the showdown, it's probably nowhere NEAR the X-1, but I think it could give the 517 a run for its money. Would KMHD come in up there?

This is the setup that I'm going to bring:

Preamp: Yamaha C-1 (EW)
Amp: Yamaha B-2x (NakDoc)
CD Player: Yamaha CDX-1120
Speakers: Revel M20 Monitors

Sounds like it oughta sound good!:D

Myself, I'm hoping to bring some sort of golden age JBLs and either a fully restored Marantz or a Denon setup to run them with.

I think I might bring my original Yamaha interconnects I got with my B-2x/C-2x combination. Sold the pair but still have the 4 patch cables. Also might bring this new General Hi-Fi thing I just ran across.
