Polk SDA CRS+

Hello all,

I saw a pair of Polk SDA CRS+ in good condition with stands, interconnection cable, and speaker wire for $350 O.B.O. Are these worth $350 or should I offer lower? Thanks

I say lower. Though I suspect that particular SDA model is rare (I certainly never see them), they aren't going to be full range. In my book that reduces their worth. I wouldn't go more than $250.

Cool thanks. I trying to set up a good sounding but some what small stereo. I'm not even sure yet if their will be rear speakers. The girlfriend doesn't want too much clutter. Yet book shelves with picture frames are okay?

I disagree- at least a little. I have a pair. Those stands are pretty tough to come by. And they are indeed quite full range. Amazing what they do, actually. I considered selling mine at one point (and I think I'm always very fair to cheap with my prices) and I thought $300 was pretty reasonable. That was before the economy got so poor, so I might go a little lower if I were to sell them today.

We're not a million miles apart here, so that gives you some idea.

Take care,

Ed

I sold mine with stands, ic cable and boxes for $250. For music I prefer my sda 2b's over the crs+.

Polk SDA's are wonderful speakers but this pair look to be woefully laden with the much maligned SL2000 tweeters:)

I got a pair of these last year bundled with a big Sony ES receiver and they came with the original stands and interconnect cable. Everything I've read about them because of the unusual feedback circuit between speakers, says that they need lots of room around them and need to be far from walls and corners, so if you are thinking small as far as total space required, you might want to look elsewhere.

Both of mine have blown tweeters and I am still trying to decide whether to just order the current replacement model driver or do the much touted tweeter/crossover upgrade that I've read about on the Polk forum where there is much discussion regarding the SDA tweeters. Meanwhile they are stored in the garage.

I think I'll have enough room around them. I'll just have to get rid of some of the girlfriends "decorations". I was also thinking total space the speaker itself takes up. But I didn't take into account the space they need to sound good.

I thought it might be worthwhile posting an image from the full color Polk brochure that I got with my CRS+'s showing the entire SDA line in all it's glory.

Oh, yes, that's VERY worthwhile! 8-)

Thanks for sharing that.

Regrettably, I have personally never heard any of the SDA speakers.

This discussion has re-invigorated my interest in the CRS+'s and so I just ordered a pair of replacement tweeters from Polk. They are supposed to be a improvement over the original drivers and so might be something to keep in mind if you do buy the speakers and might also be an argument for a lower price. There is also small fuse type device in the tweeter circuit on the crossover's that might also warrant replacement as I am told they sometimes cut out intermitantly when they get old and those are also available, and you get a nice discount on everything if you are a Polk Club (forum) member.

Oh, and be careful getting rid of those "decorations".

Don't expect miracles. I found the replacement tweeters dull and lifeless so I sold them for $30 each. As you see by my signature, I'm still using the stock sl2000 tweeter which I prefer over the peerless, the sl3000 (TL version) and the rd0 replacements. Do a side by side (left vs right) compare between the replacement and the sl2000 and you might be able to hear why I sold the replacements.
