They look to be in great condition. Nice cabinets. I like my SDA-SRS II's. If you like them then price is secondary. They are certainly in the ballpark.

... They are certainly in the ballpark.
So, it could not be considered a score at that price, correct? I may send him an offer of $275 and see if it flies. I've already emailed him to make sure he has the interconnect.

Just how much room do these things need to "breathe"?

Dave

Okay, I just spoke to the seller. He is selling them for the ex-wife of the original owner. They are said to be in "perfect" condition, have the original interconnect cable and the original surrounds. The original surrounds part has me a bit reluctant to pull the trigger. There's a lot of drivers and a couple of PRs in these things. Has anyone re-foamed SDA's? What might I be looking at here? Jump or pass?

Help!

They dont use foam surrounds they have butyl rubber surrounds and will last longer than you do most likely :D

REGARDS JIM

I'll be picking these up Wednesday or Thursday. $250. Looking forward to setting them up! Hopefully, I haven't screwed up here.

Dave

... I havent heard this model but the SDA's I own edged out a pair of Paradigm reference 100's series ll sound wise for me.
Jim:

I am truly looking forward to to auditioning them. Perhaps even more so than the PSB Stratus Golds that I pick up tomorrow! I just hope that my room has enough "air" for them.

Dave

Seriously: my friend at work had a pair of SDA-1 a while back. They were hooked up to his Yamaha amp and IMHO sounded awesome. Imagine my shock when he told me he traded them for some Kenwood home theater package!!! It was several years ago and now (with my help) he finally realized what a mistake that was. Too late...
So SDAs and PSB tomorrow? What about console stereos? Not interested anymore?

You got a good deal and those are great speakers. I paid $275 for my 1b's. Mine sound incredible completely stock with no upgrades. If you find them a little harsh, a $3 in-line 1.0 uf/250v radial mylar cap can be added to the top sl2000 tweeter to tame it down a notch.

Those aren't just "SDA 1's", those are 1C's, which are generally regarded as the best of the early series. You've done very well, my friend.
