Post a picture of your turntable

That looks great Wes, bet she sounds great too!
Is that just a new headshell and collet or a whole new armwand?

I patiently opened up the XB arm to accept the collet. I ovated the hole for the fixing bolt to get a little azimuth adjustment at the collet. That XB was my testing table for about a year. Played any cart I threw at it.

While not a high end player, I got this off the bay and had a cover made local. Project One (CEC) DR-220A.

Thank you for the welcome and compliments. This is my bedroom table. As for the sound, I am not much of a judge because I just restarted spinning vinyl after a 20 + year lapse. The Empire I am still using the cart that it came to me with about three months ago, I did a total dis-assembly, oiled the wood, replaced the plastic with glass as they did on the 698. and have been trying to decide on a new cart for it.(Leaning to trying an AT 150mlx). I can say that it sounds good to my old ears, it goes to a Rotel 1312 to Celestion 66's. The biggest surprise was that my old vinyl was as good as it is, but maybe it helps that it's being played on a bunch of old poop like this!

The near mint Lab 440 is of course much more convenient, has the original cart, but is much more sensitive to vibration. I have not yet A-B tested the two tables.

First up, a TT I had until recently - Michell GyroSE/Tecnoarm/Goldring 1042:

Because of a muscle condition making manual cueing difficult I reluctantly sold this (at a profit!).

It was replaced with a Technics SL7 linear tracker. I'd owned one back in the 80s when new so knew what to expect:

I use this with a wide variety of carts, including Ortofon X1 and OM40, Technics P22 with an SAS stylus, plus models from ADC, Pickering, Shure, Empire, Grado.

Since one TT wasn't enough I got the SL7's big brother, the SL-QL1 and tricked this out with an external power supply, better bearing, new feet, more damping and a copper bonded platter:

Cartridges as per the SL7.

Lastly, a bit of an impulse buy, was a Sony PS-X600 Biotracer. The only mod here is an acrylic mat:

Cartridges include a Pickering XV15-625E, AT91 (E), SAE 1000E and SAE 1000LT.

Some p-mounts work well on the Sony including a Sonus SPM-4:

In both living room and study systems I use Graham Slee phono amps, an Era Gold V and a Reflex M. These both give great sound - deep, wide and dynamic with super detail.

Great selection, but I think the big brother is the SL-10

Nice stuff Morris_minor! I have a SL-QL1 in the spare room with a simple AT122LP. I hate to put it in the main system because it sounds so good compared to my other 'gee-wiz' turntables. I'd love to hear what your tweaks have done for yours!

Welcome to AK!

Thanks! The Technics parallel trackers perform really well, and easily hold their own against many well-regarded current turntables.

If you want to hear my tweaked QL1 head over here! (Shameless plug over . . ).

Welcome to AK!

Two door, four door, convertible or Traveller?
Thanks for the welcome . . . It's Two door! I use the name for many reasons: It was my Dad's first car; Morris is a proper name (not mine, I'm Bob); and "minor" was a description added in posh British schools in the past to refer to a younger brother of an older pupil. Not so much Senior/Junior but Major/Minor!

Did many Morris Minors make it to the US? I can't imagine very many would still be running . . .

My recently acquired Pioneer PL-50, circa 1973. I am using a Denon DL-103 on it and it's a great combo.

SL-1500 part Deux...

...with the original arm, rewired and internally damped plus a nice mellow Shure Premier Black.

Modded Thorens TD160

Just finished this up last night. Unfortunately as soon as I plugged it up I found out that the new to me Rega 251 has a bad lead...Still, sure is pretty to my eyes at least!
