Rockin and Rollin....
Seems like we have a few riders on this forum. We see a lot of peoples cars, so let's see your bikes. Let's see how many different types of riders there are here.

Here's mine. A 2002 Yamaha Road Star.

BTW, the crappy pipes you see on it are no longer on it. I'm now running a FAIC pipe on it and LOVE it.. I'll never have chrome pipes again

WOW.. that's a really sweet looking bike.. Can't say I've ever seen an 82 that is ridden that looks that clean and new like.

I really miss the last Suzuki and bike I used to have. My wife said I could go find one and buy it if I liked.. just too hard to find a great condition one...

It was an 85 Suzuki Madura GV1200

This isn't my old bike. Just a picture I borrowed from the web, but it looks exactly like it.. man.. the thing was a rocket eater...

EDIT:
WOW.. and for grins, I just searched to see if I could find one for sale, found an 86 in Baltimore MD for $1500 and really great looking condition. Gonna go call now :)

......I've got a 2002 Yamaha V-Max but no pictures, so here's a link to see the newest 2007 model....they've had the same engine and carburator-action since 1986....the V-Max first came out in 1985, but it had 1249cc's of engine instead of the '86-on 1198cc's....amazing acceleration....you're up to 120 in seconds just into 4th gear and it's still pulling HARD....amazing unique motorcycle, with the effect of a 4-barrel kicking in at 6000 rpm....my 2002 redlines at 9500.....

Not a motorcycle

I used to be really into motorcycles when in my 20's - rode all across the USA and raced them.

Now, though, here is what I ride (and race). A carbon ONCE team issue GIANT. Don't forget, the Tour de France is going on now. My bike is one of those type (not the motor, though).

I owned one of these until 1996. Bought it "new" in 1986 though it was a 83' model. It would do an honest 140 mph on the top end, and was a blast to ride.

Not my actual bike. I wish I still had it.

I was just in the dealer a couple weeks ago looking at the 07 V-max... sure is nice.. looks like they beefed up the front end a little too.. I know they used to flex a little too much and would make for some really interesting cornering...

The wife and I bought bicycles last year, figuring we'd get out and get some exercise.. .nope.. it's more fun to roll the motorcycle outta the garage when we wanna do some riding...

I have no MOTORCYCLE stories to tell as of yet since I just got this MOTORCYCLE in March. Except for the one when I was pulled over for speeding by a female NY State Trooper (very cute blonde I might add) two weeks after I got my MOTORCYCLE and she tried to get me for DUI also but I passed the breathylizer, and she let me go without even giving me the speeding ticket. And she thanked me for not running. Anyways I took it as an eye opener, and a lesson learned. Before you twist that throttle hard around, be sure to look for LEO's.
Oh yeah, my right hand goes numb after about 10 miles or so from gripping the throttle and it gets hard to control all that raw horsepower just trying to get out.:D

Rj

PS. This is not my first one. I could tell a few stories from those times but it's all ancient history. I had three before this one but not since 1991 have I had the pleasure of two wheels and a big motor under me going down the road. It's great to be back in the wind gents.

So what bike did you end up getting?

heheh.. yeh.. I've gotten busted a few times for twisting the throttle in front of a cop I didn't see... the last good one I got nailed on, I had just turned onto a side street, and laid into it on my Madura.. within a block I was up to 68 in a 25... the cop was sitting one the street perpendicular to the one I was on.. Turned out to be a nice guy.. wrote the ticket for 19 over instead of a reckless...

I've ridden a couple of those.. a hell of a lotta fun.. great power and superb cornering for a bike built that year.

OK.. here's you a story....

The bike I have now happened by accident.

I had gotten out of riding for about 10 years, and was really starting to get the itch bad again.. I had seen one of the Yamaha Warriors one day, and really liked the looks of it. One boring Saturday I told the wife I just wanted to stop at the dealer to see what they really are, and see how much they cost. NO INTENSION of buying a bike.. just kicking tires...

We get to the dealer, and I was surprised my wife was really enjoying looking at bikes. She had only been on the back of one, maybe two bikes...

We found a warrior, and as I looked closer, I started to drool all over it.. My wife told me to sit on it. I said no, I have no need, because I'm not buying or seriously considering a bike.

She talked me into it.. I sat on it... for about 5 seconds.. man was the thing uncomfortable. The ergo's are a mess on that bike.. so I get off, and look around a bit..

My wife calls me.. "HEY HONEY.. come here!" So I do, and she's standing next to this PURPLE Road Star. Never heard of one. No idea what it is other than a Yamaha. She says " I LIKE THIS BIKE!" I said yeh, it looks nice, for a PURPLE bike.. she tells me to sit on it.. so I figure WTF...

hhhmmm... mmmm.. wow.. this feels good.. but it's PURPLE!!! The salesman walks buy and wants to start talking numbers. I said thanks, but I'm not buying, especially something PURPLE...

I'll be damned if we didn't walk out of there about 15 minutes later, and my wife says let's go to the credit union.. 30 minutes later, I'm holding a check made out to the dealer...

We go back, and the sales guy is shocked.. but not near as much as me.. So we hand him that check, and write out another for the remainder of the balance. He says they will have to service it and all that jazz.. come back Monday...

I do, it's raining, and I haven't been on a bike in 10 years.. and it is by far the biggest bike I had ever ridden.. 700 lbs and a 1600 cc's. (although my 1200 was a LOT faster)

So.. I ride it home in the rain.. lotta traffic, and 10 years without practice.. I got home soaking wet, shaking from fear, and had the most STUPID grin plastered on my face. I sat in the garage the next two nights polishing all the dirt and rain off of it, and just sitting on it making stupid kiddie VROOM VROOM noises. I almost brought out a fan to blow on my face.. it rained for 3 days before I could get out and enjoy it and get comfortable enough with it to let the wife on the back...

I've been shocked at how many compliments we've gotten about the color of this bike. Over the last couple years I've been seeing more and more purple bikes, but they weren't as popular as when I bought this one.... I was afraid everyone would think I was a fruit because I had a purple bike.. but she liked it and that was what was important.. ;)

OK.. Stupid story, but that's how I got back into riding.

Nice ride wineslob. I always like that style of motorcyle, from about 1982 on they really came out with some sweet looking jap rockets.

This is the bike currently in my garage - 2002 Yamaha YZF600R (all stock).

A typical ride would be west to DeKalb, Illinois (country roads) on a Sunday morning, have breakfast and be back home by Noon. My riding buddy has a BMW bike.

I wear a helmet and leather jacket even on a hot day.

I'm 53 and I don't test the limits of the bike or my skills.

This is a true sportbike, but the seat is comfortable and the forward lean is not as bad as most sportbikes.

I love this bike.

Cheers, Snade

I'll probably go get a big new shiny cruiser that'll last me probably till I check out, or till I can't hold the dam thing up anymore whichever comes first.

I wasn't wanting an old man's bike myself when I ended up with the roadie.. but the wife liked it, so I let her talk me into it.. and really glad she did...

I sold my Madura, because even at 35, I was having a lot of fears because my reactions just weren't as fast as when I first started riding, and the Madura was a hand full when you jumped on it.... and I was doing a lot of insanely stupid things like bar hopping, then wondering how both I and the bike got home..

Now, we're starting to look at a couch :( (Goldwing, or maybe a Venture) Still gonna keep the Roadie though. We're just getting to where something for long hauls that is more comfy, and quieter is more appealing... THEN, once I get too old to hold it up, I can just have a trike kit put on it.. YEH.. that's the ticket ;)

That is one damn fine looking bike Snade.. I've always liked the YZ6 myself. Matter of fact, I replaced my brake calipers on my bike with the ones from the R6. (I believe the same on the YZ)

I just know better than getting something like that, because I know when I've got that kinda power, I tend to want to use it every chance I get...

Cool to hear people wear the right gear.. I know I don't, but since I have no life savings, I figure it's better I go out in a sideways slide ;)

.....(steps up in front of crowd, clears throat)....Hello, my name is mulester7....(long pause)....and I, am a motorcycle addict....(lowers head).....

....I love motorcycles....have since I was 12....what an amazing game to play....'ya got two kinda' motorcycle riders, actually 3....

.....'ya got speed-limit cruisers,

.....'ya got those who want speed, like 160, hang on to your crotch,

.....and, 'ya got those who are thrilled by acceleration, and they know that 'speed kills', especially in the corners.....

.....I vote for the last one when I'm the only one on the motorcycle, and vote for the first one when Her Majesty is aboard.....

.....me and 5-6 others ride semi-regular....we go around 60 miles by "at least" US Highways, eat a great meal at a specified restaurant in that town, then bring it home.....our group is usually two new Goldwings, a new Boulevard 109, (it can smoke the Goldwings), a new 1500 Vulcan dresser, two V-Maxes-'02 and '06, and a dresser Harley, that newest one with the engine on rubber mounts and it's got fuel-injection, I think....the other V-Max rider weighs 275, (chortle)....yeah, when he and I wrap 'em in second doing 35-40 with a long stretch of good pavement ahead, he's watched me shift many times....I let him almost-tie just enough to keep him interested, haha......
