I have a lot of friends that ride HD. We all ride together, they don't put down my rice burner. We're all on two wheels. There's nothing at all wrong with Harleys. They just cost a lot more than the Harley wannabee bikes.

.....sure, I love to ride with Harleys, they sound the best with after-market pipes....I go on some Friday night rides where everyone meets at a Harley dealership here in Little Rock....one time we had about 40 bikes show up for a ride into the country where Guys had a fish-fry set-up in a well-lit farm outbuilding waiting for us, and trust me, they knew what they were doing....the fried catfish fillets could not have tasted better, but the shredded cabbage slaw was what stopped the show for me, it had white grape halves in it.....

.....we even had a Boss-Hog riding with us that evening, talk about MASSIVE....click on "NEW BIKES", and the top one is like the one that rode with us that evening....350 with about the same amount of horsepower....

.....the things weigh about 1150-1200 pounds, have an 8-cylinder CAR engine, have ONE gear up to about 160, and are capable of smoking the back CAR tire at any speed....sure enjoyed that night.....

.....BigStereo, I just don't need to spend $20,000 for a Harley that wouldn't outrun a fat woman, even though they sound great not outrunning her.....

.....aaahh, yes, the Suzuki Hayabusa....1300 cc inline 4 with HIGH rpm, the new one is 1340 cc's....fuel injected with fistfuls of gas....Ram-Air....6 gears....capable of 155 in a quarter-mile....governed to 186 top-end out-of-the-crate.....

.....I've ridden with a Hayabusa involved in the mix two times....both times when he showered down on it coming into a long straightaway, he was simply like, gone.....

.....I will never own a crotch-rocket....their elements are speed and high-speed cornering, and they're killing a lot of our young men who turn them loose on US Highways....my daughter used to work at the NLR Police Dept, and she told me some gorey stories reported to her....when we see a corner/bend coming up, we don't know if a leaking sand or gravel truck didn't go throught that corner 5 minutes ahead of us....you can fight a back tire breaking loose a little, but if the front tire does down, you're screwed, and instantly sliding on the pavement beside the bike....then you and the bike leave the pavement and find trees, mailboxes, deep ditches with large rocks, etc....crotch-rockets are amazing runners, just honor the fact a US Highway WILL be used to accomodate ALL vehicles including dump trucks......

Are those borrowed pictures, or do you still have the bikes? Hven't seen a Hodaka in years and years..

.....here's what could be my next motorcycle....a 705 pound cruiser that will outrun a V-Max in a quarter by about two lengths, I read that in a magazine article comparing the two....it's really a 2300 cc three-cylinder fuel-injected 5-speed "Junior Boss Hog"....2300 cc's against 705 pounds, wow, Toyota puts a 2400 cc engine in their smaller trucks....and, you can have the emission stuff taken off this motorcycle and have 160 horsepower instead of 140 measured at the rear tire....I probably won't do it though, because they're listing at $16,000, and you can't get them to cut a nickel....there's also not much of a used market yet, although I did see one in the paper about three months ago, and the Guy was asking $12,000, didn't say what color....from Triumph, The Rocket III.....

I parted out a very similar little hodaka,1973 Dirt squirt(I think) Some one put an ace side cover on it. Neat looking little bikes but I never got to ride it. I sold it and the buyer backed out Sad because the bike would have been pretty easy fix and I was tired of seeing it rust so I sold the motor and hauled the rest for junk.

Sadly, I don't own any of them anymore. The Schwinn and the Kawy would be worth a mint today. Not sure about the Hodaka. :scratch2:

I remember those bikes and those names. Don't forget about the Schwinn Orange Crate also.

Mine came from Sears it was just like the Schwinn with a 5 speed shifter, Medium blue metal flake. It may have even been made by Schwinn. I got it for my birthday when I was turned 9.

I have seen some pretty mean gixxers including the famed 500 horse turbo charged 1300r very fast bike but to me I figure a ninja 650 is more then enough power,why risk your life just to say I have a bike that is capable of 280 mph??? we all know you will never get the bike to 280 so why have it? even a 500 gets down pretty good,a buddy and I took a 87 ninja ex 500 and pulled the rear swing arm and front forks off a honda 250x 3 wheeler and made one beast of a trike and let me tell you with two wheels in the rear spreading out the ground surface area you get much more traction. That bike would pull wheely's like no other in the dirt plus we had it hitting 110 down a long stretch dirt road up by my buddy's place!

The bike looks rough I know,it still needs a lot of work,and the original tank and body parts.There is a lot of custom stuff on this bike,the rear shock is a big one had to make it a unishock strong enough for rough terain also the carb's are not original or the airbox its all custom fitted. I beleive the box is off a honda 1100 cruiser and the carbs are off a yammi 750 cruiser but it ran good until we bent a valve so were lookin for a new motor haha

.....well, got home a few minutes ago, and I got some trip treasure to tell.....

.....going to Heber, we first have to go about 12 miles of freeway, just past Jacksonville, the town where the Air Force Base is, to catch Highway 5 North....so, at the end of the trip, we come back the same 12 miles of freeway coming home....it's three lanes on each side for about three miles coming into Little Rock, and that's where we were for the telling of this trip treasure.....

.....the Goldwings led home and were leading, and I was in the rear....I looked into my rearview mirror, saw something strange, and couldn't quite make out what it was, because it looked so odd....a second look gave the impression of a helmented Guy on a tall black uni-cycle, but here's what went by.....

.....a tall kid that looked like in his late teens, probably 6 feet tall, "walking a crotch-rocket" doing about 80, (we were doing 65), and he was bodily standing "straight-up", with his foot in the chrome ring of the backseat, with the bike virtually straight-up....I mean just tooling down the freeway in the lane next to us....he had on a full-face helment and what looked like a high school letterman's jacket he'd been wearin' huntin', yeah....he got ahead of the Goldwings leading, and changed lanes....it was BEAUTIFUL....no telling how long he had that bike up before he went by us, either.....he changed lanes about three more times, and we could see him well, as he slowly stretched the distance between us and him....finally, he brought it down at the top of the river bridge into Little Rock....I enjoyed watching every second of it....hey, those freeway lanes have cracks running between them that can throw a motorcycle sometimes....he just confidently went right over them, standing that crotch-rocket straight-up....his bike appeared to be a 750, maybe a 900....this Guy was really good....could walk it for miles.....

I admire those kinds that do that stuff, just because they know their bikes that well and can do it.. However!!!! I think it's pure bullshit they do that stuff on the interstates and highways. It's what give all of us riders a bad name.

They are risking not only their life, but the lives of the other people on the interstate. All it takes is for them to fall, and then everyone behind them swerving trying to miss them. Not only that, but it takes peoples eyes off the traffic around them.

Right after we moved to this area, we were on the loop around DC and the traffic was backed up several miles.. we were on the bike.. eventually coming from the other direction, we see two kids on bikes.. One is doing a wheelie at 70 or so, with his legs over the bars, and the other was standing beside his bike skating along side of it even with the other guy. There isn't really any other traffic coming from that direction so we figure there is an accident in the opposite lanes, and our lanes were backed up because of rubber neckers...

We get about a half mile farther, and sure enough, there's the accident. There's a car sideways with best I could count, about 8 rockets all piled up behind the car. There are about 10 more sitting upright along the guard rail and a bunch of guys sitting on it, most all talking to about 10 different cops.. no telling how many got hurt in the accident, it looks liked there weren't as many people as bikes, and an ambulance was just pulling away..

I can't believe after seeing an accident like that, two stupid kids would be right past it doing stupid **** like that...

If they want to ride like that, find an unused back road or parking lot, but I wished they would stop giving the rest of the riders out there a black eye, and risking others lives.

I think home built monsters like that are the coolest things.. damn fine job... Ya couldn't get me off of that

I've always wanted to build a go-cart (adult size of course) with a something like an 1100 or similar on the back of it.. something that would do 200 and a 1/4 in 8 seconds or something stupid like that.. man would that be a blast :yes:

Here are just a few pictures of the bike that my wife an I enjoy riding.

The pic with the side car is not mine. It was taken on a trip to the AMA Motorcycle Museum. The Indian was part of a display and was on loan from the owner. Pictures were encouraged. The pic with the Penn State Cheerleader and the Nittany Lion was taken on a promotional event for the basketball team a few years ago. I might add that it was 17 degrees that day!

My wife rides in the back seat and tells me where to go. She also gives me directions......

heheh.. I understand the wife part too well LOL... Same here.. DOH!

That's a really great looking Utra. I have looked at them and thought about one myself, but after riding this Road Star that's a little bigger and a lot more torque, I think I would be disappointed with the power and size of an Ultra without putting a lot of money into it for at least a stage 3 kit.

We do want a touring bike like that, but I'm leaning more towards a Venture or Wing. The thing I don't like about the Wing is, my knees are almost touching the dash when on the pegs, and my legs feel really cramped. I'm not real keen on the Venture, because it doesn't have as much torque as the wing or HD stock.

Yep, THose kids are like pouring bleach in the gene pool, but the problem I have is it also puts everyone else on the road at risk, along with non riders thinking all bikers are stupid. That's why I have no problems with them doing that kinda stuff on deserted back roads or parking lots.. Some of them really do have a lot of talent, just no brains in the mellon..
