In my coffee table:

The coffee table has a servomotor driven corexy mechanism that moves a magnet under the sandbox. The steel ball carves paths in the baking soda "sand". The sand is lit on two sides from a very low angle using two different color LED strips. It uses a 3D printer controller board with patterns stored as g-code files to draw the patterns. The controller has 223 patterns stored on a uSD card and runs them in a different random sequence every time the table is powered on. Some patterns take 3 minutes, others take over an hour. The sequence starts with one of 9 random erase patterns, then one of 223 randomly selected drawing patterns is drawn, followed by a 10 minute delay to allow time to admire the pattern before erasing and drawing the next pattern.

A couple of weeks ago, we took a day off from our Adirondack fall foliage hikes to visit the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. We have been there many times before with the grandkids but this time we wanted to see the giant 30 ft trolls by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. He constructed 7 trolls in various locations throughout the forest in the Wild Center. To photograph all 7 trolls required walking about 3 miles on the trails. This troll is called Patrick Sapling holding a real sapling maple tree. Six of the trolls are temporary on display for several months but Patrick Sapling will be a permanent fixture. The first photo is my photo and the second photo is me next to the troll taken by my wife.
